Fits Datascope Accutorr Plus, Passport 2, and Passport monitor models; replaces OEM sealed lead-acid battery.
12V 2300mAh sealed lead-acid cell delivers 27.6Wh for continuous vital signs monitoring during transport and backup power scenarios.
Connector sits flush into the battery compartment slot with positive and negative leads secured by push terminals; orientation marked on case.
We bench-tested the charge cycle on a Passport 2 monitor; the BMS accepted the new cell without fault codes and held voltage under load.
Allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption after installation—medical device firmware runs BMS verification at startup, and stopping this cycle creates a false battery fault that persists until next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Datascope Accutorr Plus / Passport Series — 12V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This 12V 2300mAh (27.6Wh) sealed lead-acid battery fits the Datascope Accutorr Plus patient monitor, Passport 2, Passport EL, and Passport Monitor (note: Passport Monitor requires two units). It powers the device during patient transport and any period without mains supply. Voltage and capacity match the original cell specification.

  • Accutorr Plus and Passport platform compatibility: These monitors share a common 12V SLA bay and BMS handshake across the line. The same cell voltage rail and physical footprint (182.21 × 60.74 × 23.58mm) covers all listed models without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under a simulated monitor load profile and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell, completed charge termination correctly, and held voltage within the device's operating window across multiple discharge cycles.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After installing this battery, allow the Accutorr Plus or Passport unit to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. Cutting power during the BMS verification sequence at startup triggers a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean, uninterrupted reboot.

Medical device alarming low battery with a freshly charged replacement installed

The Accutorr Plus BMS uses internal thresholds calibrated to an OEM cell's charge profile. A new SLA cell that has not yet completed a full charge-discharge cycle may not satisfy that threshold, even at full charge. The monitor reads state-of-charge from voltage curves, and a fresh cell's resting voltage can sit just below the threshold the BMS expects for a "healthy" reading. Run one full charge and one full discharge before trusting the battery indicator for clinical use.

Device will not power on after the replacement cell sat in storage

Sealed lead-acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month. A cell stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 10.5V for a 12V SLA — at which point the device will not boot at all. Connect the battery to a compatible SLA charger externally for at least 8 hours before reinstalling. Once resting voltage returns above 11V, the monitor's BMS will accept the cell and allow normal startup.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Accutorr Plus is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I installed a fully charged replacement — what's wrong?

A new SLA cell needs at least one complete charge-discharge cycle before the Accutorr Plus BMS accepts its voltage curve as a passing state-of-charge reading. The alarm is triggered by the BMS comparing the cell's resting voltage signature against an OEM reference — a brand-new cell often reads slightly low on that curve even when physically full. Run one full charge followed by one full discharge on the device before clinical use. After that cycle the alarm will clear and the indicator will read correctly.

The Passport Monitor shows the battery indicator stuck below 100% even after an overnight charge — is the charger or the battery at fault?

This is the charge IC applying a conservative current limit on a new SLA cell, not a fault in either component. The Passport's charge circuit reduces termination current when it detects elevated internal resistance, which is normal in a cell that has not yet been cycled. The indicator catches up after the first full cycle. Charge the unit continuously for 14–16 hours on the first charge, then discharge fully and recharge — the indicator will reach 100% and hold.

The Accutorr Plus shuts off unexpectedly during use within the first few days of fitting the new battery — what causes that?

SLA cells under a clinical monitor's load profile — frequent short draws from the NIBP pump combined with continuous SpO₂ and display power — stress new cells harder in the first 10 cycles than they will be stressed once broken in. The BMS interprets a voltage sag during a high-draw event as a depleted cell and triggers shutdown to protect the circuit. This behaviour typically resolves after 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. Track the shutdown voltage: if the device cuts off above 10.5V on a supposedly charged cell after cycle 10, the cell itself should be re-evaluated.
