Fits Dell Inspiron 1564, Inspiron 1564D, and Inspiron 1564R models; replaces OEM part 312-1021 and cross-references 5YRYV, 9JJGJ, JKVC5, NKDWV, TRJDK, FH4HR, K456N, and others.
11.1V at 4400mAh capacity delivers the original discharge curve to this three-cell platform; 48.84Wh matches the native pack rating so BIOS fuel gauge reads correctly after calibration.
Connector seats into the right-side battery slot with a single mechanical latch; orientation marked on the chassis prevents reversed installation and protects the charge circuit.
We bench-tested this cell on a known-good Inspiron 1564 dock charger; BMS accepted the handshake within two seconds and held 11.1V under simulated 15W system load without early cutoff.
After installation, discharge fully to hibernate shutdown then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears false health warnings from the prior cell's EEPROM data.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Inspiron 1564 Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (312-1021)

This 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Dell Inspiron 1564, 1564D, and 1564R laptops. It fits the standard P07E and P08F001 board platforms and uses OEM-matched connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge under load.

  • Inspiron 1564 platform fit: The 1564, 1564D, and 1564R all run the same P07E battery bus with identical connector housings and BMS handshake. Any cell carrying part number 312-1021 or cross-references like NKDWV, JKVC5, or FH4HR communicates correctly with the Dell EC firmware on these boards.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a 1564 board under combined CPU and display load. The BMS held voltage above the 9.8V cutoff threshold through full discharge cycles and reported state-of-charge accurately to the EC within two calibration passes.
  • First-cycle conditioning on Dell laptops: After installing, run one full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the Dell EC flags after every cell swap.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after swap

Dell's embedded controller reads health data from the battery EEPROM and compares it against the previous cell's stored cycle count and charge history. A fresh cell has a blank or factory-default EEPROM, so the EC flags it as degraded before any learn cycle runs. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate then an uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the EC recalibrates and the health warning clears.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't yet mapped the new cell's actual voltage curve. The old curve still sits in the EC's memory, so the reported percentage drifts from the real state-of-charge. Under full CPU plus display load, the cell hits its low-voltage cliff while the screen still shows 20–30%. Two complete discharge-and-charge calibration cycles reset the fuel gauge IC against the new cell chemistry. After calibration, shutdown should not occur above 5% reported charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell BIOS still shows "Consider replacing your battery" after I installed a new cell — is the battery faulty?

It's not a faulty cell. Dell's EC carries over the health data from the old battery's EEPROM and flags the warning before it has data from the new pack. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle writes fresh data to the EC and clears the warning.

The fuel gauge is all over the place for the first few charges — jumping from 60% to 15% with no warning

The fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. It takes two to three complete discharge-and-charge cycles for the IC to map the new cell's chemistry accurately. Don't rely on the percentage reading until those cycles are done. After the third full cycle, the gauge should track within 5% of actual state-of-charge.

System info shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from the 48.84Wh on the listing

The Wh figure in Dell's system info pulls from the EEPROM design-capacity field, which is sometimes written at the rated ceiling rather than the tested delivered capacity. The cell itself is 48.84Wh. If the EC shows a slightly different value, verify it with HWiNFO64 under the battery sensor tab — the full-charge capacity reading there reflects actual cell measurement, not the EEPROM static value.
