Fits Dell Inspiron 3000, 3000 M233ST, 3000 M266XT, 3000 M3200 laptops; replaces OEM part numbers 55506, 55509, 56535.
14.4V 4400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 63.36Wh — matches original capacity for standard runtime on AC-free operation.
Connector seats into the slot with locking tab on the left side; physical dimensions 166 x 73.5 x 22mm confirm fit without riser blocks.
Bench testing showed the BMS accepted charge without fault codes; voltage held steady under CPU-plus-display load without cliff collapse in final discharge cycle.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Inspiron 3000 / 3200 — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (55506)

This 14.4V 4400mAh (63.36Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in Dell Inspiron 3000, Inspiron 3000 M233ST, Inspiron 3000 M266XT, and Inspiron 3200 laptops. It uses OEM part references 55506, 55509, and 56535. If your laptop no longer holds a charge away from the AC adapter, this is the direct replacement cell.

  • Inspiron 3000 and 3200 platform fit: These models share the same 14.4V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why one cell covers the full group. The EEPROM on each replacement cell carries the correct chemistry and capacity data the BIOS reads at boot.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on an Inspiron 3000 chassis through charge, discharge, and re-seat events. The BMS negotiated correctly with the Dell EC controller on each cycle, and the fuel gauge IC tracked cell voltage without dropping into error state.
  • Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap — skipping it leaves the fuel gauge IC working off the old cell's stored data.

Laptop shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap

This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old, degraded cell. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load that the IC hasn't mapped yet. The BIOS reads a voltage drop it associates with empty and triggers shutdown — even though the cell still has real capacity. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles with no interruptions, then charge to 100% each time. After two cycles, the fuel gauge IC re-maps the voltage curve of the new cell and shutdown at 20–30% stops.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

A fresh cell carries blank or default EEPROM health data, which the Dell BIOS reads as a fault and flags as poor health or unknown state. This is a data mismatch, not a cell fault. The BIOS battery learn cycle rewrites that health register once it completes a full charge-discharge loop. Perform one uninterrupted discharge to hibernate, then charge to 100% — the health warning clears once the EC controller logs a complete cycle against the new cell's voltage profile.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Dell Inspiron 3000 shows the correct percentage for a few minutes then jumps wildly — why?

The fuel gauge IC inside the laptop is still calibrated against the old cell's voltage curve. When a new cell is installed, the IC doesn't yet know where full or empty sit on the new chemistry profile, so it interpolates badly and the displayed percentage lurches. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% — after two complete loops the IC re-maps to the new cell and the gauge stabilises.

The replacement cell is showing 63.36Wh in Dell's battery report but the system info screen says a different Wh rating — is the battery wrong?

No. The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the original cell — or from a cached BIOS value — not live-measured from the new cell. The actual chemistry in this replacement is rated at 63.36Wh (14.4V × 4.4Ah). Once the BIOS completes a full learn cycle, the reported figure updates to reflect the new cell's EEPROM data. If it doesn't update after one full cycle, clear the stored battery data in Dell's BIOS power settings and re-run the calibration.

New battery installed, but the Inspiron 3200 won't charge above 80% — is this a fault?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Dell laptops include a firmware setting — sometimes labelled "Primary Battery Charge Configuration" — that caps charge at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check BIOS under Power Management or use Dell Power Manager if the OS is installed. Set the charge mode to "Express Charge" or "Fully Charged" and the cell will charge to 100%.
