This 14.8V, 1950mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the Dell Inspiron DUO 1090 convertible tablet-laptop. It fits the flip-hinge Duo chassis released in 2011, covering both the standard Inspiron DUO 1090 and the Inspiron Duo Convertible variants. OEM part numbers covered: WW12P, TR2F1, 9YXN1, and CN-09YXN1.
- Inspiron DUO 1090 and Convertible fit: Both variants share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. The 14.8V nominal rating and four-cell configuration match the original Dell spec, so the BMS accepts the new cell without rejecting the charge cycle.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the DUO 1090 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge current tapered normally at top-of-charge, and the protection circuit triggered at the expected low-voltage cutoff without a hard fault.

Why the DUO 1090 BIOS reports poor battery health after a new cell swap
Dell's BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, which stores charge cycle counts and capacity history from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, that EEPROM data doesn't match the actual chemistry, so the BIOS flags it as degraded. This is a data mismatch, not a fault with the replacement. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge allows the fuel gauge IC to write fresh calibration data and clears the warning on the next boot.

This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't been calibrated against the new cell's actual chemistry. The gauge is reading stored EEPROM estimates, not live cell voltage, so the percentage shown doesn't reflect true remaining capacity. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell hits its actual voltage floor before the gauge catches up — and the system cuts power to protect the hardware. Run two or three full discharge-to-charge cycles and the gauge IC recalibrates; shutdowns should stop occurring above 10% after that.

The 28.86Wh spec in the product data reflects the actual cell rating (14.8V × 1950mAh). After one full calibration cycle, the fuel gauge IC writes updated data and the reported figure in Windows Battery Report should align more closely with the actual cell spec.
The DUO 1090 charge stops at 80% and won't go higher — what's causing it?
Dell's BIOS on several Inspiron platforms includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell wear over time. This is a BIOS setting, not a fault with the replacement cell. Check Dell's battery settings under the Power Manager utility or the BIOS Advanced settings — look for "Primarily AC" or "Custom Charge" mode and set the upper limit to 100%.
