Fits Dell Latitude 3340, 3350, and Latitude 13 Education models replacing OEM part YFDF9.
11.1V, 4400mAh capacity delivers 48.84Wh to restore full runtime on this ultraportable business notebook.
Connector seats flush into the battery slot with a single locking tab — no adapters needed.
We cycled this cell through charge-discharge on a Latitude 3340 and confirmed the BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation-cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Latitude 3340 / 3350 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (YFDF9)

This is an 11.1V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 4400mAh (48.84Wh) for the Dell Latitude 3340 and Latitude 3350 series ultraportable business notebooks. It replaces OEM part numbers YFDF9, VDYR8, HGJW8, and related variants. It fits directly into the original bay and connects to the existing power management circuitry.

  • Latitude 3340, 3350, and 13 Education compatibility: These models share the same 11.1V battery rail, physical connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the same cell works across the entire platform without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Latitude 3340 and confirmed the BMS handshake initialised correctly, charge cycles completed without fault codes, and the SMBus communication reported accurate state-of-charge data to the OS.
  • First-cycle discharge protocol for Latitude systems: After installing, run the laptop on battery until it hibernates at low charge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap.

Why the Latitude 3340 reports poor battery health after a new cell is installed

The Latitude 3340 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the original cell. When a replacement cell arrives, that EEPROM data is either absent or mismatched against the new chemistry. The BIOS reads this stale data and flags the battery as degraded before it has run a single cycle. This is a firmware-level read issue, not a fault with the replacement cell. Running the full discharge-to-hibernate then uninterrupted charge sequence forces the BIOS to rewrite its battery learn table against the actual new cell.

Latitude 3340 shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining after battery swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load at a point the gauge still maps to 20–30% remaining. The laptop interprets the voltage drop as an imminent cutoff and shuts down. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100% — this gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to remap its curve to the new cell. After two cycles, shutdowns at partial charge should stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Dell Latitude 3340 shows battery as "unknown" or 0% in Windows right after fitting the new cell — is the battery dead?

No. The fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data that doesn't match the new cell, so Windows receives no valid state-of-charge signal. Run the laptop on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one full cycle the SMBus communication re-establishes and Windows reports a real percentage.

System information shows the wrong Wh rating after fitting the replacement — Dell Power Manager reports a different capacity than the battery label?

The Wh value Dell Power Manager displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the cell, not measured in real time. The replacement cell's EEPROM reports its rated chemistry value, which can differ slightly from the previous cell's stored figure. This is a data mismatch, not a capacity fault. The actual delivered capacity will align with the 48.84Wh specification after the BIOS completes one battery learn cycle.

New Latitude 3340 battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — charger is working fine?

This is almost always the BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Dell's battery health management firmware caps charge at 80% by default on some configurations to reduce cell stress. Open Dell Power Manager, go to Battery Settings, and switch the charge mode from "Primarily AC" or "Custom" to "Adaptive" or "Full Charge." The battery will then charge to 100% on the next cycle.
