This 3.8V, 5100mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original HH8J0 cell in the Dell Venue 8 Pro 5855 tablet. It fits the 8-inch Windows tablet directly, restoring full portable operation when the original cell no longer holds charge. Voltage, connector, and physical dimensions match the OEM spec.

  • Venue 8 Pro 5855 fit: The 5855 uses a flat Li-Polymer pouch cell with a dedicated BMS that communicates charge state to Windows. This replacement uses the same connector pinout and cell dimensions (105.62 × 97.33 × 4.54mm), so the BMS handshake completes on first boot.

The 5855 charge IC negotiates charge rate after it reads the new cell's acceptance parameters on the first cycle. Until that first full charge completes, the controller defaults to a conservative rate as a precaution. This is not a fault — it clears after one accepted charge cycle from near-empty to 100%. Plug into the original Dell charger for that first cycle, not a generic USB adapter.

The new 5100mAh cell has a different voltage-to-capacity curve than a degraded original cell. The Venue 8 Pro 5855 feels warm while charging the new battery — should I be concerned?

Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles on a new Li-Polymer cell is normal. The charge IC on the 5855 runs a formation cycle on a fresh cell, which generates slightly more heat than steady-state charging on a broken-in cell. As long as the tablet is not hot to the touch and the surface temperature drops once charging completes, nothing is wrong.
