This is a 4.8V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the DeTeWe Outdoor 8000, Outdoor PMR 8000, and PMR8000 handheld transceivers. It matches the original MT700D03XXC specification and uses the same four-cell Ni-MH stack the dock charger expects. Voltage, physical footprint, and connector orientation are direct matches to the OEM pack.

Why the Outdoor 8000 cuts out mid-transmission on a new MT700D03XXC pack

A new Ni-MH pack ships at partial storage charge — typically 3.8V to 4.2V across the four-cell stack. When you press PTT, the transmit current spike can pull the pack voltage below the radio's internal cutoff threshold, causing the unit to drop the transmission. This is not a faulty pack. Run one full charge cycle through the dock before field use and the resting voltage will sit at or above 5.5V fully charged, giving the cells headroom to handle the PTT surge without sagging below cutoff.

The Outdoor 8000 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a percentage read from a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage reads in the second or third band, so the display looks low even though the cells are not depleted. This is expected behaviour. Charge the pack fully in the dock; once resting voltage reaches approximately 5.6V, the indicator will step up to show full charge.

My Outdoor 8000 drops the transmission when I press PTT — is the new MT700D03XXC pack faulty?

It is not faulty. Ni-MH packs ship at partial storage charge, and the PTT current spike pulls the cell stack voltage below the radio's transmit cutoff threshold before the cells are fully conditioned. Run one complete charge cycle in the dock first. After a full charge the resting voltage sits high enough to absorb the PTT surge without dropping out.

The dock charger on my DeTeWe Outdoor PMR 8000 blinks after I insert the new pack and never settles — what is happening?

The dock reads the pack voltage on first contact to confirm it falls within the acceptance window. If the contacts are slightly oxidised or misaligned, the voltage reading is inconsistent and the charger loops without committing to a charge cycle. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat it with firm pressure. The LED should transition to a steady charge state within 30 seconds of a clean contact.

The radio transmits fine at the start of a shift but switches to noticeably weaker audio output by mid-shift — what causes that?

Sustained RF output draws continuous current from the pack, and as cell voltage sags under that load the radio's power management steps down the TX output to stay within its operating voltage floor. This is voltage sag under load, not a capacity fault. Confirm the pack reaches a full charge before the shift — a resting voltage below 5.4V means it did not complete the charge cycle — and reinsert it fully seated so contact resistance does not add to the voltage drop.
