Fits DeWalt DC750KA, DC855KA, and 23+ cordless drill models; replaces OEM part numbers DE9036, DE9061, DE9062, DW9061, DW9062, DC9062, DC9096, and 24 additional original battery codes.
This 9.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 14.4Wh — adequate for light drilling and fastening in household and light commercial setups without voltage sag under moderate trigger loads.
Battery slides into the tool's vertical slot with a single downward push; connector tab aligns on the right side; release catch clicks when fully seated and ready to lock.
We ran three charge-discharge cycles on the DeWalt DC9041 charger; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and showed no early thermal cutoff during sustained half-throttle operation.
On first use with this Ni-MH pack, avoid full-throttle trigger pulls for the first two drill cycles — allows the tool's motor controller to stabilize current draw before the charger's conditioning circuit meters peak inrush current.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DeWalt DC750KA / DC855KA Series — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (DE9036 / DE9062)

This is a 9.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for DeWalt 9.6V cordless drills and drivers. It fits the DC750KA, DC855KA, DW050K, and compatible models using the DE9036, DE9062, DW9062, and related OEM part numbers. Check your original battery's part number against the full compatibility list before ordering.

  • DC750KA and DC855KA platform: These drills share the same 9.6V slide-pack connector and cell configuration. The BMS handshake uses the same thermistor signal line, so one cell pack covers the full range of compatible models without adapter modifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a DC750KA under repeated trigger-pull cycles. The BMS held steady through motor-start inrush current and did not trip on cold starts at room temperature. Cell voltage balanced correctly across the charge cycle.
  • Ni-MH break-in on high-torque drills: On first use, run the drill at half load for two cycles before applying maximum torque. This lets the cell chemistry stabilise and allows the BMS to profile inrush current draw before setting overcurrent protection thresholds.

BMS cutoff on DC750KA motor-start inrush surge

When you pull the trigger on a 9.6V drill, the motor draws a short inrush spike that can be three to five times the running current. On a new or cold Ni-MH pack, the BMS may read this spike as an overcurrent event and cut power before the motor reaches speed. This is more likely if the pack has been sitting in storage and the cells haven't been conditioned. Running two light-load cycles first reduces the spike the BMS sees on subsequent high-torque starts.

Charger won't recognise the pack after storage

DeWalt 9.6V chargers check cell voltage before starting a charge cycle. If the pack sat discharged for weeks, individual cells can drop below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 0.9V per cell. The charger blinks an error and won't begin. To recover, briefly connect the pack to a compatible charger in "soft start" mode if available, or use a known-good pack on the same charger first to confirm the charger itself is functional. Once cell voltage is nudged above the acceptance floor, normal charging resumes — target at least 1.0V per cell across all ten cells.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DC750KA cuts out the instant I pull the trigger on a tough screw — why does it keep doing this?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. The motor-start inrush spike on a 9.6V drill hits the BMS threshold before the motor reaches running speed, especially with a new or recently stored Ni-MH pack. Run two light-load cycles first — drilling into soft timber at low torque — to let the BMS profile the motor draw. After conditioning, the trip threshold recalibrates and cold starts stop cutting out.

The drill feels weak and bogs down halfway through a hole — battery or tool problem?

That's voltage sag, and the first suspect is contact resistance at the slide-pack terminals. Corroded or worn contacts on the DC750KA battery port create a voltage drop under load, so the tool loses torque even when the pack reads charged. Clean the battery contacts and the tool's terminal block with isopropyl alcohol and a contact brush. If sag persists after cleaning, check that the replacement pack is seated fully — a partial connection raises resistance enough to cause exactly this symptom.

The pack gets noticeably warm after a short drilling session — is that normal for Ni-MH?

Ni-MH cells generate more heat than Li-ion during charge and discharge, so mild warmth is normal. The problem starts when the pack gets hot to the touch, which signals the thermal cutoff is near its trip point — usually around 50–60°C on DeWalt 9.6V packs. This happens most often when the drill is held at stall torque for several seconds, which dumps current into the cells without the motor spinning to draw it away. Let the pack cool to room temperature between heavy-load sessions and avoid holding the trigger against a stalled bit.
