Fits DJI Osmo Action models; replaces OEM part number AB1.
3.85V, 1250mAh lithium-ion cell stores 4.81Wh — matches original capacity for full shot count per charge cycle.
Proprietary DJI connector with positive-center contact; slides into camera battery slot with spring-loaded retention latch.
We ran full discharge cycles on a test Osmo Action body; BMS recognized the cell on first insertion and held stable voltage throughout discharge curve.
On first use, charge fully inside the Osmo Action camera body itself — the DJI firmware needs one complete charge cycle from within the body to map battery percentage display accurately to this cell's discharge profile.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DJI Osmo Action — 3.85V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB1)

This is a 3.85V, 1250mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the DJI Osmo Action camera. It fits the Osmo Action body directly and matches the OEM part number AB1. Capacity is 4.81Wh — identical to the original cell specification.

  • Osmo Action platform fit: The Osmo Action uses a single-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS handshake that checks voltage signature and connector polarity at boot. This cell matches both, so the camera body accepts it through the standard power-on sequence without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an Osmo Action body. The BMS logged correct cell voltage at each reporting interval and did not flag a protection fault at any point during testing.
  • First-cycle initialisation on the Osmo Action: Charge this cell fully inside the camera body or OEM charger before your first shoot. The Osmo Action maps its battery-remaining display to a discharge curve — one full charge cycle from within the camera body lets the BMS calibrate that curve correctly for accurate percentage readout.

Osmo Action showing dead battery icon on a replacement cell that still has charge

The Osmo Action reads cell voltage at boot and maps it to a preset discharge curve stored in the BMS. A new replacement cell that has partially self-discharged during storage may present a resting voltage the camera interprets as critically low. This is a voltage-threshold mismatch, not a dead cell. Place the battery in the OEM charger first and bring it to full charge — once it reads 4.35V at the terminals, the camera will boot and report correctly.

Battery percentage jumping or resetting erratically during recording

The Osmo Action's fuel gauge estimates remaining capacity by tracking voltage drop against its internal discharge curve. A new cell has a slightly different discharge profile than the aged OEM cell the curve was calibrated for — this causes the percentage counter to jump at voltage inflection points. The fix is one full charge-to-discharge cycle so the BMS can re-anchor its curve to the new cell's actual voltage behaviour. After that cycle, percentage readout stabilises and tracks linearly down from 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Osmo Action shows "No Battery" or refuses to power on with the new AB1 cell installed — what's happening?

The Osmo Action performs a BMS authentication check at power-on and will reject a cell if the resting voltage falls outside its acceptance window. A cell that has partially discharged in storage can trigger this. Place the battery in an OEM-compatible charger, bring it to a full charge, then reinsert and power on — this clears the rejection flag in most cases.

The battery percentage on my Osmo Action jumps from 60% to 20% with no warning — is the cell faulty?

It is not a faulty cell. The camera's fuel gauge maps voltage readings against a discharge curve built from the original DJI cell. A new replacement cell has a slightly different voltage-drop profile, so percentage figures jump at the inflection points where the curves diverge. Run one complete charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body — the BMS re-anchors to the new cell's actual curve and the readout steadies after that.

Shot count is noticeably lower in cold weather — is this the replacement cell or the camera?

Cold temperatures reduce the electrochemical reaction rate inside any Li-ion cell, which causes usable capacity to drop and internal resistance to rise — you get less out of every charge when ambient temperature falls below 10°C. The Osmo Action's processor, stabilisation system, and display all draw simultaneously during recording, and that combined load hits harder against a cold-reduced capacity. Keep the spare cell in a chest pocket between uses to hold it near body temperature, and you will recover most of the rated 4.81Wh before it goes into the camera.
