Fits JVC SSL-JVC50 and SSL-JVC70 camcorders requiring 7.4V lithium-ion cells.
7.4V at 7800mAh delivers 57.72Wh — sufficient for extended filming without mid-session swaps.
Connector seats flush into JVC camera body with no locking tab; slide straight until seated.
We bench-tested this cell in a JVC GY-HM600 deck — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycling.
On first use in the camera body, run one full charge cycle through the deck itself before heavy shooting — JVC BMS needs internal charge acceptance to map remaining capacity correctly on the display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC SSL-JVC50 / SSL-JVC70 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 7.4V, 7800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the SSL-JVC50 and SSL-JVC70 cells used in JVC professional camcorders and video cameras. It delivers the same voltage rail and capacity as the original, keeping cameras operational through extended recording sessions. Dimensions are 70.20 × 42.75 × 76.10mm — check these against your existing cell before ordering.

  • SSL-JVC50 and SSL-JVC70 compatibility: Both OEM part numbers share the same 7.4V nominal voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One replacement cell covers either original, so there is no need to order separately based on which label your current battery carries.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on JVC camcorder hardware. The BMS handshake completed correctly, capacity read within expected tolerance, and thermal monitoring triggered no fault codes across the full discharge range.
  • First-cycle BMS initialisation: On first install, run one complete charge cycle through the OEM charger or camera body before heavy use. Some JVC BMS systems require an in-body charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display accurately on a new cell.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on JVC camcorder display

JVC camcorders map voltage thresholds to percentage steps calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell may have a slightly different discharge profile, causing the indicator to skip or jump — particularly in the upper 80–100% range and again near 20%. This is a display calibration issue, not a cell fault. Running two or three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body allows the BMS to remap its thresholds to the new cell's curve and stabilise the readout.

Camera showing "no battery" or rejecting the cell on first install

JVC camcorders perform a BMS authentication check when a new cell is inserted cold, and a cell at partial charge or near-zero voltage can fail this check, triggering a rejection message. Remove the battery, place it in the OEM charger until it reaches at least 3.7V per cell (7.4V total at the pack terminals), then reinsert. If the camera body still shows an error, power cycle the body with the battery seated. Most rejections clear after one full charge cycle from within the camera.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JVC camcorder shows "no battery" when I insert the new cell — is it faulty?

It is almost always a BMS authentication check failing on a cold or low-voltage cell, not a faulty battery. Place the cell in an OEM-compatible charger first and bring it to at least 7.4V at the pack terminals before inserting it into the camera body. If the message persists after that, seat the battery and power cycle the camera body once. That single charge-then-power-cycle sequence clears the rejection on the vast majority of JVC camcorders.

The battery percentage on my JVC camera jumps around — it reads 80%, then drops to 40% with no warning.

The JVC camcorder's percentage indicator is mapped to voltage thresholds tuned to the original cell's discharge curve. A replacement cell discharges along a slightly different curve, so the indicator can skip steps — especially between 70–100% and again near the low-battery threshold. This is not a capacity problem. Run two to three full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the BMS will remap its thresholds to the new cell's actual curve, stabilising the display.

My shot count is noticeably lower than I expected — is the 7800mAh capacity accurate?

The 7800mAh rating reflects real capacity measured under a controlled constant-current discharge. In a working camcorder, continuous autofocus, image stabilisation, the electronic viewfinder, and active cooling all draw current simultaneously, pulling total consumption well beyond the base figure. Cold ambient temperatures also reduce usable capacity temporarily as lithium-ion cells deliver less current below 15°C. If the cell is new and recently fully charged, confirm the camera body is not running all power-heavy features simultaneously — disabling IBIS or EVF backlight to maximum brightness during recording will noticeably extend available capacity.
