Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dogtra YS-300 Bark Collar — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP-37Y)

This 3.7V, 300mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original BP-37Y cell in the Dogtra YS-300 and YS300 bark control collar. It powers the collar's correction circuit and detection electronics. The cell measures 30.00 x 15.50 x 7.20mm — verify your existing cell matches before ordering.

  • YS-300 and YS300 fit: Both model designations use the same collar housing, the same BP-37Y connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake voltage threshold. One cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the YS-300's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, held charge correctly, and released current to the correction circuit under load.
  • Post-swap activation tip: After fitting a new cell, give the collar a full charge before the first bark event. The YS-300's sensitivity circuit recalibrates on first trigger after a power interruption — a partially charged cell can cause the collar to under-deliver or skip corrections entirely.

Why the YS-300 stops correcting mid-session after a battery swap

The YS-300 draws a brief surge of current each time it fires a correction. A degraded or partially charged Li-Polymer cell sags below the collar's minimum operating voltage during that draw, tripping the low-voltage cutoff in the BMS. The collar goes silent even though the indicator light may still show power. A fresh, fully charged BP-37Y cell holds voltage steady across the correction pulse and keeps the circuit active throughout the session.

Collar not responding to bark detection after new battery installed

If the collar powers on but doesn't trigger on barking, the vibration and sound sensor calibration may not have reset properly after the power interruption. Remove the battery, wait 30 seconds, reinstall, and charge to full before testing. Place the collar on the dog and allow two or three test barks in a quiet environment so the sensor baseline can settle. If the collar still doesn't respond, check that the contact points are seated against skin and the sensitivity dial is set above the minimum position.

Frequently Asked Questions

The YS-300 fired corrections fine yesterday but today it won't trigger at all — battery shows charged. What happened?

A Li-Polymer cell that reads "charged" on the indicator but has aged capacity will still sag below the collar's firing threshold the moment the correction circuit draws current. The BMS cuts the output to protect the cell, so the collar goes quiet mid-use. Swap in a fresh BP-37Y, charge fully, and test with a deliberate bark — the correction should fire consistently once the cell can hold voltage under the brief load spike.

The new battery drains noticeably faster than the original did when the collar was new. Is that normal?

A brand-new Li-Polymer cell can show higher self-discharge in the first few cycles until the chemistry stabilises — this is normal. However, if drain remains excessive after three full charge-discharge cycles, check that the collar is fully powering off between sessions rather than sitting in standby. The YS-300's detection circuit draws a small continuous current in standby mode; over days, that adds up. Power the collar off completely when not in use and recheck drain after the next full charge.

The YS-300 was stored for several months with the old battery inside. Now it won't charge at all after fitting the new BP-37Y cell.

Extended storage with a deeply discharged Li-Polymer cell inside can trip the collar's charge controller into a protection state that blocks incoming charge even after a new cell is fitted. Connect the collar to the charger and leave it for at least 20 minutes without interruption — the controller needs a trickle pre-charge phase to recognise the new cell before switching to normal charge mode. If the charge indicator still doesn't activate after 20 minutes, disconnect, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect. The controller should reset and begin charging at that point.
