Fits Garmin Pro 70 handheld remote and Pro 550 handheld unit; replaces OEM part 361-00023-13.
3.7V 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers full power to the training collar transmitter without voltage sag during extended sessions.
Connector slides into the battery compartment with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush when fully inserted.
We bench-tested this cell in the Pro 70 platform; BMS registered charge acceptance within two cycles with stable voltage curve.
After installing this battery, take the dog outside for five to ten minutes before first training session—GPS cold start requires satellite acquisition after power cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Pro 70 / Pro 550 Handheld — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (361-00023-13)

This 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery fits the Garmin Pro 70 and Pro 550 handheld remote control units used for dog training systems. It replaces OEM part 361-00023-13 and 010-11864-10. Capacity figure is taken from product data — 12.58Wh total energy.

  • Pro 70 and Pro 550 handheld compatibility: Both handhelds share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake on each unit accepts cells within the same voltage window, so one replacement covers the full range listed above.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the Pro 70 handheld's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, reached full charge termination cleanly, and held resting voltage at 4.18V after a 2-hour settle.
  • First-use GPS acquisition tip: After fitting this battery and powering on, take the handheld outside and hold it clear of obstructions for 5–10 minutes. The unit performs a cold-start GPS acquisition after any power interruption — this takes longer than a warm-start and the remote will not display collar position until the fix completes.

Why the Pro 70 remote loses collar contact in low-signal rural areas after a battery swap

The Pro 70 handheld uses RF communication to the collar alongside GPS positioning — both subsystems draw from the same cell simultaneously. In rural or dense-cover areas, the RF transmitter and GPS receiver both increase duty cycle trying to maintain lock, pulling higher average current than open-field use. A cell with reduced capacity handles this combined load for less time before voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold. If contact drops sooner than expected after the swap, check that the replacement cell is reading above 3.6V resting before use — a partially discharged cell won't survive the peak draw of simultaneous RF and GPS bursts.

Handheld screen shows "No Device Found" immediately after powering on with a new battery

This error appears when the Pro 70 handheld loses its paired collar registration during a full power interruption — the pairing data is held in volatile memory that clears when the battery is removed. It is not a fault with the replacement cell. Re-enter the collar's pairing sequence via the handheld's device setup menu; the unit will re-register the collar over RF within range. Confirm the collar is powered on and within 10 metres during the re-pair step.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pro 70 remote shows the collar's position as frozen or blank for several minutes after I put the new battery in — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. The GPS inside the Pro 70 handheld performs a cold start after any power interruption, and cold-start acquisition routinely takes 5–10 minutes outdoors before the first fix appears. Warm starts after a brief sleep are much faster, but a full battery swap resets that state. Take the handheld outside, hold it away from your body, and wait for the GPS icon to stop blinking — that confirms a live fix.

The handheld battery drains noticeably faster when I'm working fields with poor cell coverage — why?

In low-signal areas, the Pro 70's GPS receiver increases its acquisition cycles trying to hold position lock, and the RF transmitter to the collar runs at higher output to punch through dense cover. Both run simultaneously off the same cell, so average current draw climbs well above what it is in open terrain. Keep the handheld charged above 3.7V before heading into heavy cover — a cell starting below that threshold won't sustain the combined RF and GPS load long enough for a full session.

After replacing the battery, my Pro 70 handset won't sync collar data to the Garmin Tri-Tronics app on my phone even though it powers on fine.

A full battery swap can clear the Bluetooth pairing between the handheld and the app. Open the Tri-Tronics app, go to device settings, remove the Pro 70 from the paired device list, then put the handheld into pairing mode by holding the menu button until the Bluetooth icon flashes. Re-add it in the app. The handset and app re-register over Bluetooth within about 30 seconds once both sides are in discovery mode.
