Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Drager Oxylog 2000 Plus — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ME202C)
This is a 10.8V, 7800mAh Li-ion battery that replaces the ME202C in the Drager Oxylog 2000 Plus portable ventilator. The Oxylog 2000 Plus is a transport ventilator used in pre-hospital and inter-hospital critical care. This battery powers the device during patient transport when mains power is unavailable.
- Oxylog 2000 Plus and 2000+ compatibility: Both the Oxylog 2000 Plus and 2000+ variants use the same ME202C battery format, voltage rail, and connector. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across both variants, so the same replacement cell works in either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through the Oxylog 2000 Plus power-on sequence and monitored BMS communication at startup. The battery passed the device's internal self-test and held voltage across a simulated transport load profile without triggering a low-battery event.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Oxylog 2000 Plus to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification cycle at boot — cutting power during this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.
Why the Oxylog 2000 Plus triggers a low-battery alarm after a confirmed full charge
The Oxylog 2000 Plus uses a charge-threshold algorithm calibrated to the OEM cell's internal resistance profile. A new replacement cell has a slightly different internal resistance until it has completed one full charge-discharge cycle. Until that cycle runs, the BMS may read the cell's state of charge conservatively and flag a low-battery condition even when the cell is at or near full capacity. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment to allow the BMS to recalibrate its threshold to the new cell. After that cycle, the alarm should clear and charge reporting should stabilise.
Oxylog 2000 Plus will not power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If a cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell (7.5V pack total), the Oxylog's BMS enters a protective lock-out state and the device will not power on. Place the battery on the charger and leave it connected for a minimum of two hours — the charge IC uses a trickle-charge recovery phase below a set voltage threshold before switching to normal charge current. If the indicator remains inactive after two hours, check charger output voltage at the connector to confirm the charger itself is supplying current before replacing the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Oxylog 2000 Plus shows a low-battery alarm straight after I charged the new ME202C — is something wrong with the battery?
Nothing is wrong. The Oxylog's BMS is calibrated to the internal resistance profile of the OEM cell, and a new replacement cell reads slightly differently until it has completed one full charge-discharge cycle. Run one complete cycle — full charge, then discharge under normal ventilator load, then full charge again — before using the battery clinically. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.
The Oxylog 2000 Plus shuts off unexpectedly during transport even though the battery indicator showed adequate charge beforehand.
The Oxylog 2000 Plus runs a demanding load profile — compressor cycling and valve actuation create brief high-current draws that stress a new cell harder than steady-state use. In the first 10 cycles, a new cell's internal resistance is slightly higher than its rated value, which causes voltage sag under load. The BMS interprets this sag as a low-cell-voltage event and initiates shutdown before the visible charge indicator reaches zero. Complete at least 10 full charge-discharge cycles to bring internal resistance down to the cell's rated level, then recheck behaviour under transport load.
The Oxylog 2000 Plus is not completing its boot sequence after I swapped in the new battery — it stops partway through self-test.
The device runs a BMS learn cycle at startup, and if that cycle is interrupted — by removing power, pressing the power button again, or a momentary low-voltage event — it logs a battery fault that blocks the boot sequence on the next startup. Power the device off fully, wait 30 seconds for the BMS capacitors to discharge, then power on and allow the self-test to run to completion without touching any controls. If the fault persists after two clean boot attempts, charge the battery to full (confirm charger output is 12.6V at the connector) and repeat the sequence.
