Fits Duracell DR35 and DR35S battery slots on compatible notebooks; restores charge capacity when original pack degrades or fails to hold power.
10.8V, 4000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers 43.2Wh — sufficient for standard notebook runtime on most laptops from the mid-2000s to early 2010s era.
Connector type matches original DR35 slot with no adapter needed; 214.50 x 52.00 x 18.50mm frame seats flush without modification or locking tab adjustment.
We bench-tested against a Compaq notebook platform; BMS accepted the cell on first insertion and charged to 100% without fault codes or voltage regulation errors.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Duracell DR35 / DR35S — 10.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 10.8V, 4000mAh (43.2Wh) Ni-MH replacement battery for laptops and notebooks that originally shipped with a Duracell DR35 or DR35S cell. It replaces a dead or degraded pack when the original can no longer sustain a charge. Voltage and connector match the DR35 and DR35S OEM spec.

  • DR35 and DR35S compatibility: Both part numbers share the same 10.8V rail, physical form factor, and connector pinout. The BMS on each variant expects the same charge curve, so one cell covers both SKUs without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on Ni-MH compatible hardware. The BMS held charge termination correctly at full capacity and showed no false-peak cutoff on the first cycle.
  • First-cycle calibration on Ni-MH: After installing, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff point, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. Ni-MH cells need this full learn cycle to let the BIOS recalibrate its fuel gauge against the new pack — skipping it often triggers a persistent low-health warning.

Why the BIOS flags poor battery health immediately after swapping the DR35

The BIOS stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new pack goes in, that EEPROM data is gone and the firmware reads the new cell as unknown or degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is a firmware state issue. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge resets the learn cycle. After two to three full cycles, the reported health figure stabilises.

Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the actual voltage curve of the new Ni-MH cell. The system trusts its old calibration data, calls 20–30% as the voltage floor, and cuts power. The fix is a deliberate full discharge — let the laptop run on battery until it hibernates on its own, then charge to 100% without interruption. Repeat this twice and the fuel gauge re-maps the curve; the cutoff point should drop to 5% or lower.

Frequently Asked Questions

My laptop shows the DR35 battery as 0% or "unknown" right after I installed it — is the cell dead?

The cell is not dead. The BIOS reads health data from EEPROM stored on the old battery, and that data does not transfer to a new pack, so the firmware reports unknown or 0% on first boot. Run the laptop on battery until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one full learn cycle, the BIOS re-registers the cell and the percentage reads correctly.

The system info screen shows the wrong Wh rating for this battery — it says something different from the 43.2Wh on the listing.

The Wh figure shown in system info comes from EEPROM data the BIOS copied from the original cell, not from a live measurement of the new pack. It does not mean the replacement is underperforming. Complete two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the actual cell chemistry and the displayed Wh value corrects itself.

Charge stops climbing and holds at 80% — the bar has not moved in over an hour.

Some laptop firmware applies a BIOS-controlled charge ceiling of 80% as a battery preservation setting, and this limit activates independently of which cell is installed. Check your power management or battery settings in the OS and BIOS — there is usually a "Battery Health Mode" or "Charge Threshold" toggle. Disable it or set the upper limit to 100%, then reconnect the charger and the cell will charge through to full capacity.
