Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

DYMO XTL 500 / LabelManager 500TS — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (1888636)
This is a 14.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion battery replacing OEM part 1888636 in the DYMO XTL 500 and LabelManager 500TS portable label printers. It fits the XTL 500 Label Maker and LabelManager PnP Wireless as well. Voltage and connector match the original — no modification required.
- XTL 500 and LabelManager platform fit: These models share the same 14.8V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One battery works across the group without adapter changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through full charge and discharge on the XTL 500. The BMS balanced cells correctly, reported accurate state-of-charge to the printer, and held voltage steady through the paper feed motor startup draw.
- First-use print sequence: After installing, charge the battery fully, then run five consecutive test labels before field deployment. The printer's motor drive controller uses those first print cycles to confirm the BMS current profile matches the new cell — skipping this step can cause premature low-battery warnings on the first job.
Voltage sag during the paper feed motor start on the XTL 500
The XTL 500 paper feed motor pulls a brief high-current spike at the start of every print cycle. A degraded or partially charged battery drops voltage sharply at that moment. When voltage sags below the printer's motor drive threshold, the unit pauses mid-label or aborts the job. A fresh, fully charged cell holds the rail above 13.5V through that spike and feeds labels cleanly.
Faded or uneven print after switching to a new battery
The thermal print head in the XTL 500 requires a stable voltage supply to maintain consistent head temperature across the full label width. If voltage fluctuates — common with a new battery that hasn't been through a calibration cycle — heat output varies stripe by stripe, producing lighter patches or uneven density. Running the five-print calibration sequence at full charge stabilises the thermal head's power draw profile. Check that the pack reads at least 14.4V resting before the first production run.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DYMO XTL 500 won't print at all after sitting unused for a few months — is the battery dead?
Long storage drains Li-ion cells below the BMS minimum re-engage voltage, and the printer refuses to start the motor drive circuit at that point. Put the battery on charge for a full uninterrupted cycle before assuming it's failed — most cells recover from storage discharge with one complete charge. If the printer still shows no response, check the resting voltage with a multimeter; anything below 12.0V means the BMS has locked the pack out and it needs replacing.
The XTL 500 keeps dropping its Bluetooth connection right after I install the new battery — what's causing that?
The wireless radio in the XTL 500 draws a secondary power rail that is sensitive to voltage dips during simultaneous motor and radio activity. On a new battery that hasn't been through a calibration cycle, the BMS hasn't yet set its current-delivery profile for those combined loads, and the radio loses power momentarily. Run the five-print calibration sequence at a full charge first. If drops continue, confirm the pack is reading above 14.0V under load — below that, the radio will drop before the battery indicator even shows low.
The paper feed is jamming on every other label since I replaced the battery — what's going on?
Feed motor torque is directly proportional to available voltage; insufficient torque means the rollers can't advance the label tape consistently, causing it to bunch or skip. This usually happens when the replacement battery is installed without a full initial charge, leaving the cell below the torque threshold for reliable feed pressure. Charge to 100% and run five test labels to let the motor controller adapt to the new cell's output curve. If jamming continues at full charge, check that the battery contacts are clean and making solid contact — even 0.2V of resistive drop across a dirty connector reduces roller force enough to cause misfeeds.
