Fits EADS TPH700 and P3G portable radios; replaces OEM part numbers HR7742AAA02 and HR7742AAB02.
7.4V, 1800mAh lithium-ion pack delivers full transmit power without voltage sag during extended shifts on these compact land mobile radios.
Gold contact strip and straight vertical insertion into radio battery slot; locking tab seats flush when fully seated and twisted clockwise.
We bench tested this cell in a TPH700 dock; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion and discharged stable at 7.2V under sustained PTT load.
On first use with the TPH700 charger, remove and reseat the battery once if the dock shows a fault LED—the EADS platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

EADS TPH700 / P3G — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HR7742AAA02)

This 7.4V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack on the EADS TPH700 and P3G portable two-way radios. It matches the original voltage rail and connector format, and slots directly into the radio body without modification. OEM part numbers HR7742AAA02 and HR7742AAB02 are both covered by this replacement.

  • TPH700 and P3G platform fit: Both models share the same battery bay geometry, contact layout, and 7.4V nominal voltage requirement. The BMS in this pack is tuned to the same communication handshake the dock and radio expect on power-up.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the TPH700 platform. The BMS tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted recharge without fault flags on the dock LED.
  • First-insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED when you first seat this battery, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The TPH700 dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will begin.

Why the TPH700 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

When you key PTT, the radio draws a sharp current spike to power the RF transmit stage. If the BMS detects this spike as overcurrent — which can happen in the first few cycles before the cells settle — it trips the protection circuit and kills output. This is not a faulty pack; it is the BMS acting on an unfamiliar impedance profile. Run two or three full charge and discharge cycles to let the cells stabilise, and the BMS will stop tripping on transmit current.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting a new pack

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V of a full charge. The TPH700 reads voltage thresholds to set the bar count, so a pack at storage voltage will show one or two bars even though the cells are healthy. Charge the battery to full in the dock before the first use. Once the pack reaches full charge voltage, the indicator will read correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TPH700 dock LED keeps blinking red and never moves to green — what's wrong?

A continuous red blink after insertion usually means the pack voltage has dropped below the dock's acceptance threshold, or the BMS handshake didn't complete. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the fault clears, the pack will charge normally — if it doesn't, leave the pack seated for 10–15 minutes, as some docks will trickle-charge a depleted pack back above the acceptance threshold before switching to full charge mode.

Radio drops to noticeably weaker transmit power after a few hours on shift — is the pack failing?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output load, not a dead pack. As the cells discharge past roughly 7.0V under load, the TPH700 reduces TX power to protect the transmit stage. It is the radio's built-in protection, not a fault in the battery. Swap to a charged pack mid-shift if full TX power is needed throughout the shift, or charge before the voltage drops below 7.2V resting.

Pack feels like it seated correctly but the dock never registers it at all — no LED, nothing?

No LED response usually means no electrical contact between the pack and the dock pins. Check that the battery is fully pressed down and the latch has clicked — the TPH700 battery bay requires firm seating before the contacts engage. Inspect the dock pins for debris or corrosion; a cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol will clear most contact contamination. Once the contacts are clean and the pack is properly seated, the dock LED should respond within a few seconds.
