Fits Eaton CEAG lamp, SV EURO 4 LED, SV EURO 4L LED emergency fixtures; replaces OEM part 40066071181.
4.8V 2000mAh Ni-CD cell delivers 9.6Wh output; maintains charge controller acceptance across standard trickle-charge circuits.
Bayonet connector seats into lamp housing with positive pin forward; locking tab engages on 90-degree rotation clockwise.
We bench-tested this cell on an Eaton CEAG charge controller; BMS accepted the pack within 4 hours at float voltage with no fault codes.
After installation, press and hold the test button for the full rated duration within 24 hours; this confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register actual capacity before compliance testing.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Eaton CEAG SV EURO 4 LED Series — 4.8V Ni-CD Replacement Battery (40066071181)

This is a 4.8V 2000mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for Eaton CEAG emergency lighting fixtures, including the SV EURO 4 LED and SV EURO 4L LED. It replaces OEM part number 40066071181. The battery powers the lamp during mains failure, maintaining emergency illumination in commercial and industrial installations.

  • CEAG SV EURO 4 LED and SV EURO 4L LED compatibility: Both variants run the same 4.8V charge rail and use an identical cell pack footprint at 84.50 x 45.30 x 23.00mm. The charge controller expects the same float voltage and termination profile, so one cell pack covers both fitting types without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and simulated a mains-loss event. The charge controller accepted the cell within the float acceptance window, the BMS flagged no fault condition, and the lamp activated cleanly on simulated power cut.
  • First-cycle activation on CEAG fittings: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new cell capacity before the next scheduled compliance test.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A fresh Ni-CD cell ships in a partially discharged state. The charge controller on CEAG fittings applies a trickle charge, but the cell may not reach full capacity within the first few hours after installation. Running a duration test too early draws the cell below its rated cut-off voltage before the test period completes. Allow at least 24 hours on charge before conducting any formal compliance or duration test — this gives the Ni-CD chemistry time to reach a stable 1.2V per cell under load.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

CEAG charge controllers measure incoming cell voltage before entering float mode. A cell that has self-discharged during storage may present a voltage too low for the controller to accept directly, keeping the fault or charge LED red. Force a manual test cycle immediately after installation — this draws the cell voltage down and back up, prompting the controller to re-initialise its charge acceptance logic. If the indicator does not move to green within four hours of that test cycle, check the cell connector is fully seated and measure voltage at the terminals: it should read above 4.5V on a healthy cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CEAG emergency light passed installation but dimmed out halfway through the duration test — what went wrong?

The cell was not fully conditioned before the test ran. Ni-CD cells from storage need at least one full charge cycle before they deliver rated capacity under continuous load. The fitting's charge controller may have shown green, but green indicates float acceptance, not full charge. Allow 24 hours on charge after that first test cycle, then re-run the duration test.

The fault LED on the CEAG fitting is still showing after I confirmed the new battery is installed correctly — how do I clear it?

Some CEAG fittings latch the fault LED in firmware and do not auto-reset after a cell change. The controller needs a manual test cycle to clear the stored fault flag. Hold the test button until the lamp activates, release, and allow the fitting to return to standby. If the fault LED persists after the fitting returns to standby, check cell terminal voltage — it should read at or above 4.8V after a full charge period.

The replacement battery is swelling inside the CEAG fitting — is the fitting overcharging it?

Swelling in Ni-CD cells inside emergency lighting fittings is usually caused by years of continuous trickle charge at elevated ambient temperature, not a single overcharge event. If the original cell swelled, the charge controller or its thermistor may have drifted out of calibration and is no longer terminating the charge cycle correctly. Fit the new cell, but also check the fitting's ambient operating temperature — Ni-CD cells in CEAG fittings should not run in locations where the ambient consistently exceeds 35°C. If swelling recurs within six months, the charge controller itself needs replacement.
