Fits Electrolux ErgoRapido and Rapido models; replaces OEM part 405 52 51-53/4.
4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers consistent voltage under motor load on carpet and bare floors.
Connector slides straight in; vacuum dock contacts align automatically; no locking tab required for this model.
We bench-tested this cell in a Rapido unit — motor drew steady current under suction load; BMS passed voltage regulation on sustained blockage cycles.
Do not leave the vacuum on the dock continuously after full charge — Ni-MH cells develop capacity fade faster under trickle charge than cycled operation.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Electrolux ErgoRapido / Rapido — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (405 52 51-53/4)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Electrolux ErgoRapido and Rapido cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part 405 52 51-53/4 and restores power to the handheld motor unit. Capacity is 2000mAh (9.6Wh), matching the original specification.

  • ErgoRapido and Rapido compatibility: Both models run the same 4.8V cell pack with an identical connector and motor voltage rail. No wiring changes or adapters needed — the BMS footprint is the same across both variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through motor start and sustained suction loads. The BMS held steady under continuous draw and did not trip during repeated start sequences on a restricted inlet.
  • Dock charging discipline: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock after it reaches full charge. Ni-MH cells in continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The ErgoRapido's motor draws harder when the filter is partially blocked, pulling current above the rated draw before the cell is actually depleted. The battery indicator reads the cell voltage, not the motor load — so it can show half-charge while the motor is already starving. Clean or replace the filter first. If suction recovers, the cell is fine; if it doesn't, check cell voltage under load — it should hold above 4.2V during normal operation.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. It happens when sustained restricted airflow forces the motor to draw more current than the protection circuit allows. The BMS shuts the output, then resets once temperature or current drops. Clear the brush roll, check the post-filter behind the motor, and confirm the inlet path is unobstructed. If the trip keeps recurring after clearing blockages, the cell's internal resistance may have risen enough that motor-start spikes now exceed the trip threshold.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ErgoRapido was running fine but now loses suction fast even though the battery light isn't flashing — is the new battery faulty?

The battery indicator on the ErgoRapido reads cell voltage, not motor load — a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw well above rated current before the cell is close to depleted. Clean the foam filter and the post-motor exhaust filter first. If suction returns to normal, the battery is fine. If the problem persists after cleaning, check cell voltage under load — it should hold above 4.2V during a normal cleaning cycle.

The vacuum ran for a few weeks after I installed the replacement, but now it cuts out after a short time and needs to sit before it works again — what's happening?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by restricted airflow making the motor work harder than the protection circuit permits. The BMS shuts output to protect the cell, then resets once current drops — which is why a short pause brings it back. Clear the brush roll of hair and debris, check the inlet nozzle, and confirm both filters are clean. If trips continue after clearing everything, charge the battery to full and run one complete discharge cycle to let the BMS recalibrate.

I left my ErgoRapido on the dock constantly for a few months and now the replacement battery drains noticeably faster than it did when new — did I get a bad cell?

Continuous dock charging damages Ni-MH cells through sustained trickle current — it's one of the fastest ways to reduce capacity, and it happens regardless of which cell is installed. The cell hasn't failed; its capacity has been reduced by the charge pattern. To slow further degradation, remove the vacuum from the dock as soon as charging is complete and only return it when the cell is depleted. Running two or three full discharge-then-charge cycles can partially recover capacity in mildly affected cells.
