Fits AEG Rapido, ErgoRapido, and AG5104WD cordless vacuum; replaces OEM part 405 52 51-53/4.
4.8V Ni-MH pack delivers 2000mAh capacity to maintain motor torque on carpet and bare floors.
Slides into the handheld battery slot with a side-lock tab that seats flush against the housing.
We ran discharge cycles on the motor load bench; BMS held steady through filter blockage events without cutoff.
Remove this battery from the charging dock immediately after it reaches full charge — continuous dock trickle charge degrades Ni-MH cell memory significantly faster than charge-and-disconnect cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

AEG Rapido ErgoRapido Series — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (405 52 51-53/4)

This is a 4.8V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the AEG Rapido and ErgoRapido cordless handheld vacuum range. It fits the AG5104WDB and AG5104WD models alongside other units in the same series. The cell pack matches the original voltage rail and connector orientation of the factory battery.

  • Rapido and ErgoRapido series fit: These models share the same 4.8V Ni-MH cell configuration, connector footprint, and charge termination protocol — one battery covers the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a Rapido unit. The BMS accepted charge termination correctly and the motor drew current within the rated window under normal suction load.
  • Dock charging on the Rapido: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the dock between uses. The Rapido's charger does not cut off automatically when the cell is full. Continuous trickle charge degrades Ni-MH cells faster than any other single factor — charge when depleted, then remove.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low

Ni-MH cells in the Rapido don't fail all at once — they sag under load first. When the motor draws current against a restricted airflow path, the pack voltage dips below the motor's operating threshold before the charge indicator registers a problem. The indicator reads resting voltage, not loaded voltage. Clean the filter before attributing the symptom to the battery — a blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling more current and triggering sag earlier in the charge cycle.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is sustained against a partial blockage — hair wrap on the brush bar or a clogged filter — current draw spikes above the pack's rated threshold and the protection circuit opens. The motor stops, the pack rests, voltage recovers, and the vacuum starts again. Clear the blockage first. If the trip repeats on a clean machine with a new battery, check that the charger is reaching a full 4.8V terminal voltage before each session.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AEG Rapido loses suction halfway through cleaning even though the battery indicator still shows charged — is the new battery faulty?

Not necessarily. The charge indicator on the Rapido reads resting cell voltage, not loaded voltage. A Ni-MH pack under motor load can sag below the motor's operating threshold while still showing a charge at rest. Check the filter first — a restricted filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which accelerates voltage sag. If the filter is clean and the symptom persists, charge the pack fully and confirm the charger reaches 4.8V terminal voltage before use.

The vacuum cuts out after about a minute of use, sits for 30 seconds, then works again — what's causing that?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. The protection circuit opens when current draw spikes — usually because the brush bar has hair or debris wrapped around it, or the filter is partially blocked. The pack rests, voltage recovers, and the motor starts again. Clear any blockage from the brush bar and filter before assuming the battery is the cause. If the trip happens on a clear machine, the charger may not be fully topping the pack — verify it reaches 4.8V before each session.

The replacement battery fades noticeably after just a few months — the original lasted years. What went wrong?

The most common cause is leaving the Rapido on the dock continuously between uses. The AEG Rapido charger does not cut off automatically when the cell reaches full charge — it continues to push a trickle current through the Ni-MH pack. Over weeks, that constant low-level charge breaks down the cell chemistry and compresses capacity. Charge the battery only when the vacuum is noticeably underpowered, run it to near-depletion, then remove it from the dock once fully charged.
