Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ericsson PC200 — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (APX1105)
This is a 7.2V, 1800mAh Ni-MH replacement for the APX1105 battery pack used in the Ericsson PC200 two-way radio. It fits the PC200 handset directly, restoring full transmit and receive capability. Capacity is 1800mAh — matching the original specification at 12.96Wh.
- PC200 platform fit: The PC200 uses a 7.2V Ni-MH cell stack with a fixed connector and BMS handshake tied to the dock charge cycle. Any voltage or connector mismatch breaks the handshake and prevents the dock from initiating charge — this pack matches both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the APX1105 replacement through a full charge cycle and live PTT test. The BMS accepted the transmit current spike without tripping, and the dock moved cleanly from charge to standby without a fault LED.
- First insertion on the dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The PC200 dock requires a clean contact cycle to recognise the new pack's BMS before charging begins.
PC200 bar indicator reading low on a new APX1105 pack
Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically 30–50% state of charge — not full. The PC200 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator, so a new pack at storage voltage will show fewer bars than expected. This is not a cell fault. Run a full charge cycle in the dock first, then check the indicator. After a complete charge, the pack should hold at or near the top bar threshold under light load.
PC200 cuts out mid-transmission on the new pack
Pressing PTT draws a sharp current spike as the radio ramps up RF output. On a Ni-MH pack that has not been fully cycled, internal impedance is temporarily elevated, causing a brief voltage sag. If that sag crosses the BMS undervoltage threshold, the pack cuts power to protect the cells. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles through normal use to condition the cells and reduce impedance. After conditioning, the voltage under transmit load stabilises above the cutoff threshold — typically above 6.0V under peak TX draw.

Frequently Asked Questions
The dock charges the PC200 battery for a few minutes then switches back to the fault LED — what's happening?
A new Ni-MH pack at storage voltage can fall below the dock's acceptance threshold, so the charger starts, detects low cell response, and flags a fault rather than continuing. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and dock with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. If the fault repeats, leave the pack seated for 10–15 minutes — some PC200 docks require a trickle pre-charge phase to bring a low Ni-MH pack up to the voltage where the main charge cycle kicks in.
My PC200 drops to noticeably weaker audio and reduced range partway through a shift on the new pack — is that the battery?
Yes. Voltage sag under sustained RF output is the cause. As the Ni-MH cells deplete past roughly 60% capacity, voltage under transmit load drops enough that the radio reduces TX power to stay within its operating window — you hear it as weaker audio and shorter range. This is normal Ni-MH behaviour under continuous PTT use, not a pack defect. Condition the pack with two full charge-discharge cycles to reduce cell impedance, which keeps voltage more stable under load.
The PC200 bar indicator never moves above two bars even after a full overnight charge — is the replacement pack faulty?
Not necessarily. The PC200 bar indicator reads voltage at rest — if the pack was stored for a long period before you received it, the cells may need a full conditioning cycle before resting voltage climbs to the three- or four-bar threshold. Run one complete charge cycle, use the radio until the low-battery alert sounds, then recharge fully. Check the indicator again after that second full charge; resting voltage on a healthy 7.2V Ni-MH pack should sit above 8.4V and register at the top of the bar scale.
