Fits Euro Pro SV780 and Shark SV780 cordless stick vacuums, replaces OEM part number XBT779.
18V 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers consistent motor voltage under suction load without the voltage sag that drops cleaning power mid-cycle.
Slides into the battery dock with a single forward motion — connector alignment is keyed, locking tab seats with a click.
We bench-tested this cell on the SV780 charging dock; BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault codes, delivered full voltage to the motor on first draw.
Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock when fully charged — Ni-MH packs on continuous trickle charge lose capacity faster than those charged only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro SV780 / Pet Perfect II — 18V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XBT779)

This is an 18V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Euro Pro SV780, VX33, Pet Perfect II Hand Vac, and Shark SV780 cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part XBT779 and fits the same battery bay without modification. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 3000mAh, 54Wh.

  • SV780, VX33, and Pet Perfect II compatibility: These models share the same 18V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One cell pack covers all of them — no adapter or wiring change needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through repeated motor-start loads on the SV780. The BMS held voltage under sustained suction draws and recovered cleanly after overcurrent events caused by filter restriction.
  • Dock charging habit on the SV780: Remove the vacuum from the charging dock once the pack reaches full charge. The SV780 dock does not interrupt trickle current automatically, and Ni-MH cells left on continuous charge develop accelerated capacity fade within weeks.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the SV780

This happens when the motor is drawing more current than the cell pack can sustain at rated voltage — typically caused by a partially blocked filter, not a failed battery. A restricted airflow path forces the motor to work harder, pulling current spikes that drag cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold. The vacuum appears to be running out of charge when the actual problem is load-induced voltage sag. Clean or replace the filter first, then retest under normal load.

Motor cutting out mid-use and recovering after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failing battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrap on the brush roll — the motor draws sustained high current and the BMS shuts the pack down to protect the cells. The brief pause allows the BMS to reset, which is why the vacuum comes back on. Clear the blockage, verify the filter is clean, and confirm cell voltage sits above 15V at rest before resuming use.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SV780 battery fades really fast even on a fresh charge — could the dock be causing this?

Yes. The SV780 charging dock does not cut off trickle current once the pack is full, and Ni-MH cells are sensitive to continuous low-level charge. Leaving the vacuum docked permanently is one of the fastest ways to degrade capacity on this pack. Charge only when the battery is depleted, remove it from the dock once fully charged, and store the vacuum off the dock between uses.

The suction on my SV780 drops off hard partway through a clean but the battery light isn't showing low — what's happening?

The motor is hitting a sustained high-current draw that pulls cell voltage below the BMS threshold — the indicator never reaches "low" because this is load-driven sag, not actual capacity depletion. A partially clogged filter is the most common cause; it forces the motor to work harder than rated draw. Clean or replace the filter, then run the vacuum again and check whether suction holds. If it does, the battery is fine.

My replacement XBT779 pack won't charge on the original SV780 dock — is the charger expecting something specific?

Some SV780 chargers rely on a thermistor signal from the battery pack to confirm a valid Ni-MH cell before delivering charge current. If the dock light stays off or flashes an error, check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully — oxidised contacts break the thermistor circuit. Wipe the terminals on both the battery and dock with a dry cloth, reseat the pack firmly, and verify the dock LED changes state within 60 seconds of connection.
