Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ezviz S5 Plus / S5 Plus Sports — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-05)
This is a 3.8V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Ezviz S5 Plus and S5 Plus Sports Wi-Fi security cameras. It replaces the OEM BL-05 cell when the original pack loses capacity or fails completely. Swapping this cell restores the camera's ability to record and monitor without replacing the entire unit.
- S5 Plus and S5 Plus Sports compatibility: Both models share the same BL-05 cell format, voltage rail, and connector footprint. The BMS in each variant reads the same charge thresholds, so one cell covers both camera bodies without any wiring or adapter changes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge passes on the S5 Plus body. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, held the charge curve within spec, and triggered the low-voltage cutoff at the correct threshold.
- First-cycle initialisation on the S5 Plus: After fitting this cell, run one complete charge cycle through the camera body before heavy recording sessions. The S5 Plus BMS maps its battery-remaining display against the first full charge curve it sees — skipping this step can cause the indicator to read inaccurately until the next full cycle.
Why the S5 Plus battery indicator reads full then drops suddenly
The S5 Plus uses a voltage-threshold method to estimate remaining charge rather than a coulomb-counting circuit. A new replacement cell has a slightly different discharge curve shape compared to the original OEM cell the firmware was calibrated against. This causes the indicator to hold at a high reading longer than expected, then step down sharply as voltage drops through the steeper part of the curve. One full charge-discharge cycle through the camera body lets the BMS re-anchor its thresholds to the new cell's actual curve.
S5 Plus not recognising the replacement cell on first install
Some S5 Plus units display a no-battery or unresponsive state when a new cell is fitted cold, particularly if the replacement cell shipped at a low storage charge. The BMS requires a minimum voltage at the cell terminals before it will initialise — if the resting voltage sits below that floor, the camera will not boot. Connect the camera to its OEM charger immediately after fitting the cell and allow it to charge for at least 15 minutes before attempting to power it on. If the camera still does not respond, confirm the cell terminals are making clean contact and that the connector is fully seated.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Ezviz S5 Plus battery percentage jumps around — shows 80%, then drops to 20% without warning. Is the replacement cell faulty?
This is a BMS calibration issue, not a faulty cell. The S5 Plus estimates charge level using fixed voltage thresholds, and a new cell's discharge curve doesn't always match what the firmware expects, so the percentage steps erratically. Run one full charge cycle — drain the battery until the camera shuts off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% through the camera body. After that cycle, the indicator typically stabilises.
The S5 Plus records for a while and then shuts off mid-session even though the battery indicator showed charge remaining.
Sustained recording on the S5 Plus combines Wi-Fi transmission, sensor output, and video encoding simultaneously — that combined draw pulls the cell voltage down faster than the indicator predicts when it's mapped to a resting-voltage estimate. The camera's BMS triggers a hard cutoff when terminal voltage drops below the protection threshold, even if the display hasn't caught up. Check that the cell contacts are clean and fully seated, then avoid running continuous recording in temperatures below 10°C, where Li-ion output voltage sags earlier. If cutoffs repeat at above 30% indicated charge, cycle the battery fully once to re-anchor the threshold mapping.
After storing the Ezviz S5 Plus unused for a few months, the new replacement battery won't hold a charge for long at all.
Li-ion cells left at low state of charge for extended periods undergo deeper self-discharge, and the BMS may enter a sleep state that resists normal charging. If the camera was stored with the old depleted cell still inside, the new cell may also have shipped to you at a low storage voltage — a condition that mimics reduced capacity until the cell is properly cycled. Charge the replacement cell to 100% using the OEM charger without interruption, then discharge fully through normal camera use, and charge again. Capacity typically recovers to rated levels within two full cycles.
