Fits Festool C12, C12LI cordless drill and driver line, replaces OEM battery part numbers BPS12C, BPS12, or BPS12S.
12V Ni-MH pack delivers 2100mAh capacity for sustained low-inrush work like drilling and driving without voltage sag on trigger pull.
Connector slides straight into Festool C12 pack slot with positive terminals forward; locking tab seats flush against the tool housing contact plate.
We ran full discharge cycles on a C12 drill motor — BMS throttled current smoothly under sustained load without thermal cutoff or early shutdown.
On first use with this Ni-MH cell, run the drill at half throttle for two charge cycles before full-torque fastening work to let the tool profile motor startup current draw.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Festool C12 Series — 12V Ni-MH 2100mAh Replacement Battery (BPS12C)

This is a 12V Ni-MH replacement battery rated at 2100mAh (25.2Wh) for the Festool C12 cordless tool platform. It fits the C12, C12LI, and associated model numbers including 564247 and 497019. The battery slots into the same bay as the original BPS12C, BPS12, and BPS12S packs.

  • C12 platform compatibility: The C12 and C12LI share the same 12V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. Both models draw from the same voltage rail, so one replacement pack covers the full C12 compact drill and driver line without adapter changes.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the C12 drill under simulated load conditions. The BMS handled motor-start inrush without tripping, cell balance held across repeated charge and discharge cycles, and terminal voltage stayed within the expected window under sustained drive applications.
  • Ni-MH warm-up behaviour on the C12: For the first two charge cycles, run the drill at moderate load before full torque applications. Ni-MH cells deliver lower current at low temperatures and need a few cycles to reach stable internal resistance — pushing maximum torque too early can cause premature voltage sag during high-load fastening.

BMS cutoff on C12 motor-start inrush surge

The C12's compact motor pulls a sharp current spike the moment the trigger engages — significantly higher than the steady running current. On a pack that has been sitting unused, the BMS may read this spike as an overcurrent event and cut output before the motor reaches speed. This is most likely on a cold or freshly charged pack where the cells haven't settled to working temperature. Running one light-load cycle first lets the BMS log the motor's inrush profile and set its threshold above the spike rather than below it.

C12 drill bogs under load but battery shows charged

If the drill slows noticeably under torque even though the pack reads as charged, the cause is usually voltage sag — the terminal voltage drops under draw faster than the charge indicator can reflect. On Ni-MH cells, this worsens if the pack has been repeatedly topped up from partial discharge, which compresses the usable capacity window over time. Check the battery terminal contacts on both the pack and the tool for corrosion or debris causing added resistance. Clean the contacts and run the pack through two full discharge-to-charge cycles to restore a stable capacity baseline.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Festool C12 cuts out the moment I pull the trigger hard — battery seems fine otherwise. What's happening?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip triggered by motor-start inrush — the current spike on trigger pull briefly exceeds the protection threshold on a pack that hasn't been warmed up under load. It happens most often on a fresh or cold pack. Run one low-torque cycle first to let the BMS profile the inrush draw before pushing full trigger. If it persists after two break-in cycles, clean the battery terminal contacts and confirm the pack is reaching at least 12V open-circuit before insertion.

The C12 charger never stops blinking and won't go green on this new pack — what's wrong?

Ni-MH packs that have been in storage can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage, causing the charger to stall in a detection loop rather than begin a full charge cycle. Try leaving the pack on the charger for 15–20 minutes without interruption — some Festool chargers will trickle-charge a low pack until it crosses the threshold and then switch to normal charge mode. If the light stays blinking past 30 minutes, check that the battery terminals are clean and making firm contact in the charger bay. A healthy pack should show a solid charge light within the first charge session once cell voltage climbs above 10.8V.

The C12 loses noticeable power in cold weather even with a freshly charged battery — is the pack faulty?

This is normal Ni-MH behaviour, not a fault. Internal cell resistance rises sharply below 10°C, which reduces the current the pack can deliver under load and causes faster voltage sag during drilling or driving. Store the battery at room temperature before a cold-weather job rather than leaving it in the van overnight. Bringing the pack to above 15°C before use will restore close to full output; if the tool still bogs under normal load at room temperature after warm-up, that points to capacity fade from shallow cycling rather than a cold-weather issue.
