Fits Fresenius Volumed VP5005 infusion pump, replaces OEM part 120023 and BATT/110023.
9.6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH battery delivers full charge capacity for complete medication delivery cycles without mid-treatment power loss.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a positive locking tab — orientation is keyed, no forcing needed.
We bench tested this cell at 9.6V output under the VP5005 load profile; BMS voltage held stable across the discharge curve.
After installation, allow the pump to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — medical devices run BMS verification at startup, and interrupting this sequence causes a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Fresenius Volumed VP5005 — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (120023)

This 9.6V, 3000mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Fresenius Volumed VP5005 volumetric infusion pump. It matches OEM part numbers 120023 and BATT/110023. The VP5005 is a clinical infusion device used to deliver precise medication volumes intravenously in hospital and ward environments.

  • VP5005 platform fit: The Volumed VP5005 uses a 9.6V Ni-MH cell pack at this exact form factor — 89.54 × 43.13 × 44.90 mm — with a BMS that expects Ni-MH charge curves. Substituting Li-ion chemistry at this voltage rail will trigger a permanent charge fault on the pump's charge IC.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and load cycles on the VP5005 platform. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault, and the charge IC reached full capacity termination normally using the pump's onboard charger.
  • Post-installation self-test cycle: After fitting this battery, let the VP5005 complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The pump runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power mid-sequence registers a false battery fault that will persist until the next clean reboot.

Self-test failure after battery swap on the VP5005

The VP5005 runs a BMS learn cycle during its first few charge-discharge sequences on a new cell. Until that cycle completes, the pump's battery management logic does not have accurate capacity data for the new pack. This can cause the self-test to return a battery fault even when the cell is fully charged and electrically sound. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before placing the unit in clinical use — the BMS recalibrates its capacity reference on that first full cycle.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on first charge

On the first charge of a new Ni-MH pack, the VP5005's charge IC applies a conservative current limit while it establishes the cell's delta-V termination profile. The indicator may stall between 85–95% for an extended period before completing. This is not a fault — it reflects the charge IC building an accurate termination threshold for a new cell rather than relying on a stored value. Allow the pump to remain on charge until the indicator confirms full charge; it will complete normally and subsequent charges will terminate faster.

Frequently Asked Questions

The VP5005 is alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge — why?

The pump's BMS uses a stored capacity threshold calibrated to the OEM cell's charge history. A new cell has no completed cycle on record, so the BMS reads the pack as not meeting its minimum threshold even at full charge. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the VP5005 before clinical deployment — after that cycle, the BMS updates its reference and the alarm clears.

The VP5005 will not power on after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for several weeks — what happened?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and the VP5005's BMS has a minimum voltage threshold below which it will not attempt to boot. If the cell dropped below approximately 8.4V in storage, the BMS blocks power-on as a safety measure. Place the battery in the pump and connect mains power — the charge IC will recover the cell from low voltage; allow a full charge cycle to complete before attempting to power on from battery alone.

The VP5005 shuts off unexpectedly during infusion in the first few days of use — is the battery faulty?

New Ni-MH cells have not yet stabilised their internal resistance, and the VP5005's load profile during active infusion draws harder than standby. In the first 10 cycles, a fresh cell can show a voltage sag under load that crosses the pump's low-voltage cutoff threshold, triggering a protective shutdown. This is not a fault — condition the battery with 3–5 full charge-discharge cycles before sustained clinical use, and the cell's internal resistance will drop to its rated level.
