Fits Garmin Edge 605, Edge 705, and NüVi 465 GPS navigators — replaces OEM part 361-00019-12.
3.7V, 1250mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the same capacity as the original battery for uninterrupted ride tracking.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single retention tab — orientation is keyed and accepts no reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in an Edge 605 and confirmed the BMS reports full charge within four hours on standard wall power.
After installation, power the device fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after battery swap requires 5–10 minutes for first lock versus under a minute on warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin Edge 605 / Edge 705 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00019-12)

This is a 3.7V 1250mAh Li-Polymer cell for the Garmin Edge 605, Edge 705, and NUVI 465 GPS devices. It replaces OEM part 361-00019-12 and fits the original battery bay without modification. Capacity figures come from the product data: 1250mAh / 4.63Wh.

  • Edge 605 and Edge 705 shared platform: Both cycling computers run the same 3.7V power rail and use the same connector pinout and BMS handshake, which is why a single cell covers both units. Swapping between them requires no adapter or wiring change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles on the Edge 705 and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without throwing a fault code. Charge acceptance was normal and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it run a full satellite acquisition before your first ride. A cold start after any power interruption can take 5–10 minutes for first fix — subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Edge 605

As cell voltage drops toward the low-end threshold, some GPS units pull back receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw. On the Edge 605, this shows up as wider track scatter or position jumps that do not appear at full charge. The fix is straightforward: replace the cell before capacity fade pushes resting voltage below 3.5V under load. A fresh 1250mAh cell keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity through the entire discharge curve.

Edge 605 shuts off without warning before the battery indicator reads empty

The on-screen battery gauge is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. An aged or replacement cell with a slightly different curve hits the hardware voltage cutoff — typically around 3.0V — before the gauge reaches the last bar. The device cuts power mid-ride with no low-battery alert. After fitting the new cell, run two full charge-to-discharge cycles so the firmware can recalibrate the gauge against the actual discharge profile of the new cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Edge 605 lost all my saved routes after I replaced the battery — is that permanent?

Route data on the Edge 605 is stored in flash memory, not battery-backed RAM, so it survives a full power removal. If routes are missing after a swap, the more likely cause is the device performing a soft reset during reassembly — check Settings > Reset and confirm no factory reset was triggered. Plug the unit into Garmin Express and your saved courses will still be on the device if a reset did not run. Re-sync from your computer to restore any that are missing.

Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after fitting the new battery — was something damaged during the swap?

Nothing is damaged. Removing the battery clears the GPS receiver's cached almanac and ephemeris data, forcing a cold start on next power-on. A cold start always takes 5–10 minutes outdoors to download a fresh satellite almanac — that is normal behaviour, not a fault. Subsequent power cycles warm-start from cached data and lock in under a minute. Take the Edge 605 outside, leave it stationary, and let it complete the first fix before mounting it to the bike.

My Edge 605 is draining the new battery much faster during a mapped route than it does in standby — is the cell faulty?

The cell is working correctly. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver at full poll rate and keeps the backlit display on, which together draw significantly more current than standby mode. The difference in drain rate between active navigation and standby is normal for this device class. To extend time between charges on long rides, drop display brightness to 50% or below in Settings > Display — that is the single highest-impact change for reducing current draw on the Edge 605.
