This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Garmin Nuvi 2660LMT, 2669LMT, 2460LMT, and 2595LM portable GPS navigators. It matches OEM part numbers 361-00051-00, 361-00051-01, and 361-00051-12. Dimensions are 61.95 × 36.50 × 5.20mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • Nuvi 2460–2669 series compatibility: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V charging rail. The BMS handshake is identical across the range, so one cell covers the full group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles on a Nuvi 2660LMT unit. The BMS accepted the cell immediately, reached full charge voltage without fault flags, and the device held its charge state correctly through standby and active navigation loads.

A full power interruption triggers a cold start — the receiver can take 5–10 minutes to acquire its first satellite fix. Subsequent warm starts return to under a minute once almanac data is cached.

Why active navigation drains the Nuvi 2660LMT faster than standby

The 2660LMT draws from two separate loads simultaneously during active navigation: the GPS receiver antenna circuit and the backlit LCD display. In standby, only the receiver ticks over at low duty. With the display at full brightness and real-time traffic processing active, current draw can run three to four times higher than in standby. Reducing screen brightness one or two steps is the single most effective way to extend a navigation session on one charge.

Nuvi 2660LMT shuts off without warning before the low-battery indicator appears

This happens when the device's fuel gauge is uncalibrated against a new cell. The shutdown voltage threshold fires before the on-screen warning has a chance to display because the gauge still expects the discharge curve of the old, degraded battery. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles on the new cell to let the gauge recalibrate. After two cycles, the low-battery warning will appear at roughly 3.5V before the unit cuts out.

My Nuvi 2660LMT lost all my saved routes and favourites after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Nuvi 2660LMT holds some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, so a full power removal can wipe it. Saved locations stored to internal flash are usually retained, but active routes and recent destinations often are not. Re-enter critical destinations after the swap. Going forward, sync your favourites to Garmin Express before any battery work so you have a recoverable backup.

After fitting the new battery, the GPS is taking much longer to find satellites than it used to — what's happening?

A full power interruption clears the satellite almanac cache, forcing a cold start. The receiver has to download fresh orbital data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear sky view. This is a one-time event — once the almanac is rebuilt and stored, subsequent starts lock on in under a minute. Stand outside away from buildings for that first fix and let the unit sit still until the accuracy circle tightens.

The Nuvi 2660LMT shows full bars on the battery indicator but the GPS position starts drifting at the end of a trip — is the receiver going bad?

The 2660LMT reduces GPS receiver sensitivity as cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the discharge curve, even when the indicator still shows bars. That sensitivity reduction can cause position drift or slower re-acquisition after tunnels. The fuel gauge icon lags real voltage, so the receiver is already compensating before the visual warning appears. If drift starts near the end of every trip, charge the unit before departure and keep brightness low to hold cell voltage above 3.6V throughout the journey.
