Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gateway ID47H Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AS11A3E)
This 11.1V 4400mAh (48.84Wh) Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Gateway ID47H, ID47H02c, ID47H02c-2312G50Mnss, and ID47H02u series notebooks. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector spec so the BIOS can communicate with the pack's BMS. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the OS reports degraded capacity.
- ID47H series compatibility: These models share the same 11.1V three-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. A single pack covers the full ID47H line because Gateway used one battery platform across all ID47H variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and discharge on the ID47H platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the notebook's fuel gauge IC, and charge current tapered normally as the cell approached 100%.
- Post-install calibration on the ID47H: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff — do not interrupt it. Then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false health warning the firmware throws after any cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Gateway ID47H BIOS stores charge history and cycle count data from the previous pack in its battery learn table. When a new cell arrives with a clean EEPROM, the firmware compares it against that old data and flags it as unhealthy. This is a firmware artefact — not a fault with the replacement cell. Run the full calibration cycle described above and the health indicator will update correctly within one to two charge cycles.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the degraded original cell. Under full CPU and display load, the new cell's actual voltage at that state-of-charge is higher than the old cell's was — so the gauge reads the cutoff point too early. The fix is a complete discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After two or three of those cycles, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell's voltage curve and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Gateway ID47H is only showing 0% in Windows even though the new battery is fitted and the power light is on — what's wrong?
The Windows fuel gauge IC is still reading EEPROM data from the old pack and has no valid state-of-charge reference for the new cell. Let the laptop discharge completely until it hibernates, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without using it. Repeat that cycle twice. After the second full cycle, the gauge resets against the new cell's actual voltage curve and the 0% reading clears.
Windows reports the new battery's capacity as 40Wh but the replacement cell is rated 48.84Wh — is the cell faulty or undersized?
The Wh figure Windows displays is pulled from the EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack, not measured directly. A mismatch between the rated Wh and the displayed value is an EEPROM reporting difference — the cell itself contains the full 48.84Wh of usable energy. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles and the reported figure will converge closer to the rated value as the fuel gauge IC builds a real capacity map.
The new cell stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher no matter how long it stays plugged in — is the charger the problem?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a charger fault and not a defective cell. Many Gateway notebooks ship with a battery health mode active in firmware that caps charge at 80% to reduce cell wear over time. Go into the BIOS setup at boot, locate the battery or power settings menu, and disable the charge limit or set the ceiling to 100%.
