Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Fanuc RX7i / RX3i Series — 3V Lithium Replacement Battery (44A747665-001R01)
This 3V, 3300mAh lithium cell replaces the backup battery in GE Fanuc RX7i and RX3i PLC controllers. It maintains SRAM program data, parameter tables, and retentive memory during mains power loss. Compatible with IC698CPE010 and IC698CPE020 Cap Systems and ten additional Fanuc controller variants covered by OEM part numbers 44A747665-001R01 through 001R03 and CR2477N-3RX.
- RX7i / RX3i controller fit: These controllers share a common backup architecture — a single coin-format lithium cell floated by the controller's internal charge circuit to hold SRAM and RTC data. The cell connector, footprint, and BMS handshake are identical across the listed IC698 variants, which is why one cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the controller's float charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without fault flags. Open-circuit voltage on arrival measured 2.95–3.0V and climbed to nominal within hours under float charge — consistent with factory storage conditioning.
- Hot-swap protocol for this controller: Always replace this battery with the RX7i powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the controller is powered off collapses SRAM voltage immediately — program memory, retentive data, and RTC are lost. If the swap happened with power off, a full program reload from the programming terminal is required before restarting.
Why the RX7i battery alarm persists after a confirmed good cell installation
The RX7i does not automatically clear a low-battery fault once a new cell is installed. The alarm flag is latched in the controller's fault table and must be manually acknowledged through the programming software — typically via a fault clear command in Proficy Machine Edition or the equivalent HMI fault screen. Until that step is done, the controller continues to report the alarm even though the new cell is reading correctly. After clearing, verify the battery status diagnostic reads nominal before closing out the work order.
New cell reading below 3V on the controller's battery diagnostic screen
Lithium backup cells ship at a reduced storage voltage — typically 2.90–2.95V — to slow self-discharge during warehousing. The RX7i's float charge circuit will bring the cell up to nominal voltage within a few hours of installation with the controller powered on. This is not a fault condition and does not indicate a defective cell. If the diagnostic reading has not risen above 2.95V after four hours of powered operation, check the cell seating and connector contact before suspecting the cell itself.

Frequently Asked Questions
The RX7i lost its program after I swapped the battery — what happened and can I recover it?
The program was lost because the cell was removed while the controller was powered off, which immediately collapsed the SRAM supply voltage. There is no partial recovery — once SRAM loses power, all retentive data is gone. Reload the full program from your last known-good backup in Proficy Machine Edition, then verify retentive data blocks and RTC settings before returning the machine to production. Going forward, always perform the swap with the controller powered on and in RUN mode.
My RX7i is in a warm enclosure — the battery seems to deplete much faster than the rated service interval. Why?
Lithium cell self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 25°C. An enclosure running at 45–55°C can cut the effective service life to less than half the published figure. Check the enclosure ambient temperature at the battery location — if it consistently exceeds 40°C, shorten your replacement interval accordingly and consider adding ventilation or a heat exchanger to the panel. A cell reading below 2.7V on the battery diagnostic should be replaced immediately regardless of when it was last changed.
The RTC on the RX7i is showing the wrong date and time after a battery replacement — how do I fix it?
If the controller was powered off during the swap, the RTC lost its reference and reset to a default or zero value. This is separate from SRAM program memory and does not self-correct. Open Proficy Machine Edition, connect to the controller, and set the system clock manually under the controller properties or equivalent time-sync utility. If the controller uses timestamped fault logs or scheduled tasks, verify those functions are operating correctly after the clock is updated.
