Fits GE Jaguar P700P, P710P, P700PI radios; replaces OEM part BKB191210 and variants.
7.2V, 2500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers sustained transmit power without sag during field shifts.
Battery slides into the radio's vertical slot with a single locking tab on the side.
We ran full discharge cycles on the Jaguar platform; BMS accepted charge without dock fault LED.
On first insertion, if the charger dock shows a fault light, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, then reseat firmly — the GE platform requires clean contact before accepting the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Jaguar P700P / P710P Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BKB191210)

This is a 7.2V, 2500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the GE Jaguar portable two-way radio series. It fits the JAGUAR, P700P, P710P, and P700PI platforms, along with nine additional compatible models. Capacity figure comes from product data — 18Wh total energy.

  • Jaguar P700 platform fit: The P700P, P710P, and P700PI share the same battery bay geometry, contact pin layout, and 7.2V rail. The BKB191210 footprint covers all of them — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and PTT load draws on the P700P. The BMS held stable through transmit spikes and returned to rest voltage cleanly after each burst.
  • First-insertion contact cycle on the Jaguar dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Jaguar charger requires a clean contact read to initiate the BMS handshake before charging begins.

Why the Jaguar P700P cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

Pressing PTT draws a sharp current spike — typically 1.5–2A — in the first milliseconds of transmission. A new Ni-MH cell at storage voltage sits around 7.0–7.1V. If the BMS reads that as marginal, it can trigger a brief overcurrent cutoff during the transmit surge. This is not a faulty pack. Run two or three full charge-discharge cycles to bring the cells to operating voltage, and the cutoff behaviour clears.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected after fitting this pack

The Jaguar uses voltage-threshold bar indicators — no fuel gauge chip, just a simple voltage-to-bar lookup. A new cell shipped at storage voltage reads lower than a fully charged pack, so the radio displays one bar short. This is not a capacity fault. Charge the pack fully to 8.64V (the standard Ni-MH end-of-charge voltage for a 7.2V six-cell pack) and the bar count will reflect actual charge state.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Jaguar radio drops to low-power TX partway through a shift — is the new battery sagging?

Yes, voltage sag under sustained RF output is the likely cause. Ni-MH cells show a steeper voltage curve than Li-ion under continuous high-draw loads, and the Jaguar's TX power management steps down output when terminal voltage dips below its threshold. Run a full charge cycle and avoid back-to-back long transmissions in the first few cycles while the cells condition. If sag persists after three full cycles, check that the dock contacts are clean and delivering a complete charge.

The charger dock fault LED never clears — it just blinks continuously after I insert this pack.

A continuously blinking fault LED usually means the dock is reading the pack voltage as below its acceptance threshold. Ni-MH packs shipped in storage state can sit at 6.8–7.0V, which some Jaguar dock firmware rejects on first read. Remove the pack, wait 30 seconds, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reinsert firmly. If the fault clears, the dock has accepted the BMS handshake and charging will proceed normally.

The pack sat unused for several months and the radio won't power on at all now — is it recoverable?

Extended storage can push Ni-MH cells below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 5.0V for a 7.2V pack — causing the BMS to lock out. Some Jaguar docks have a recovery/trickle mode that applies a low current to bring the cells back above the acceptance voltage. Leave the pack on the dock for 30–60 minutes without interruption; if the fault LED shifts to a charge indicator, the recovery cycle has started. If the dock shows no response after that window, the cells have self-discharged past the point of BMS recovery.
