Gigabyte SabrePro 15 G — 11.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 11.4V, 5200mAh (59.28Wh) Li-ion battery for the Gigabyte SabrePro 15 G, SabrePro 15, and SabrePro 15-W8 laptops. It replaces the original cell when capacity has degraded past usable levels. The connector, voltage rail, and physical dimensions match the factory spec.
- SabrePro 15 series fit: The G, base, and W8 variants share the same battery bay dimensions, 11.4V three-cell configuration, and BMS connector pinout — that's why one cell covers all three models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge and discharge cycles on the bench and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly, charge current ramps as expected, and the protection circuit trips at the correct low-voltage threshold.
- Post-install recalibration on the SabrePro: After fitting this cell, let the laptop discharge fully until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The SabrePro reads EEPROM data embedded in the original cell and compares it against the current charge state. A new cell has no charge history, so the BIOS flags it as degraded on first boot. This is a firmware behaviour, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full uninterrupted charge — the BIOS learn cycle will update and the health flag will clear.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap
The fuel gauge IC in the SabrePro calibrates its state-of-charge estimate against the old cell's charge curve. After a swap, it does not yet know where the new cell's voltage cliff sits under full CPU and display load. As the battery approaches that cliff, voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts and the system shuts off to protect the cell. Two or three full discharge-and-charge cycles re-teach the gauge — after calibration, the reported percentage will track accurately down to the cutoff near 3.0V per cell.

The SabrePro 15 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" right after install — what's wrong?
This is an EEPROM mismatch between the new cell and the BIOS fuel gauge IC, not a wiring fault. The BIOS sees no charge history on the new cell and holds the charger off while it validates the pack. Disconnect the AC adapter, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect — the charge circuit usually re-initialises and current flow resumes. If it doesn't, enter the BIOS, load defaults, and save — that forces the battery controller to re-poll the pack from scratch.
Windows is reporting a different Wh rating than the 59.28Wh printed on the battery — is the cell underspec?
The Wh figure Windows reads comes from the EEPROM on the original cell, which stays cached in the OS power data until the fuel gauge IC fully recalibrates. The physical cell is rated at 59.28Wh as specified — the number in Device Manager or Battery Report reflects old stored data, not measured capacity. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles and the reported Wh will converge toward the actual cell rating.
The SabrePro 15 stops charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the replacement battery faulty?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Gigabyte's firmware on several SabrePro variants includes a battery care mode that caps charge at 80% to reduce cell stress during extended AC use. Check the Gigabyte Control Center application under Battery — if "Battery Care Mode" or a charge limit toggle is enabled, disable it. After disabling, plug in and the charge will continue past 80% to 100%.
