Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GoClever DVR Extreme Silver / Extreme Gold — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 660mAh (2.44Wh) Li-ion cell for the GoClever DVR Extreme Silver and Extreme Gold dash cameras. It fits directly into the camera body and restores continuous video recording capability when the original cell has degraded. Dimensions are 40.00 × 31.10 × 5.90mm — check these against your existing cell before ordering.

  • Extreme Silver and Extreme Gold compatibility: Both models share the same cell format, voltage rail, and connector pinout. One replacement covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the GoClever body and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, voltage regulation held steady across the recording loop, and no overcurrent flags were thrown on a cold start.
  • First-cycle initialisation on dash cam BMS: Run the first full charge through the camera body itself, not an external charger. Some GoClever BMS firmware requires an in-body charge cycle before the battery-remaining indicator maps accurately to the new cell's discharge curve.

Why the GoClever DVR shows a dead-battery indicator on a freshly installed replacement

The GoClever DVR Extreme series uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate charge level. A new cell shipped in storage state typically sits at 3.6–3.7V, which the camera firmware can misread as critically low or flat. This is not a fault with the cell. Plug the camera into USB power and allow a full charge cycle — the BMS will re-map its thresholds against the new cell and the indicator will read correctly from the next use.

Battery percentage jumping or resetting mid-recording after replacement

This happens when the camera's fuel gauge has not completed a full calibration cycle with the new cell. The indicator was previously calibrated to the aged discharge curve of the original battery. A new cell discharges differently, and the firmware's lookup table no longer matches actual cell voltage at each percentage point. Run one complete discharge-to-cutoff followed by a full charge in the camera body — the firmware recalibrates and percentage readings stabilise. After that cycle, the display should track the cell down to the low-voltage cutoff at approximately 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GoClever DVR Extreme Silver won't turn on at all after I fitted the new battery — is the cell dead?

Almost certainly not. The GoClever BMS can lock out a cell that arrives below its wake-up voltage threshold after storage. Connect the camera to USB power for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on — this allows the BMS to trickle-charge the cell past the minimum acceptance voltage. If the camera then powers on and charges normally, the cell is fine. If there is still no response after a full charge cycle, check the battery connector is fully seated, as the 5.90mm cell can sit slightly proud if not pressed flat.

The recording cuts out partway through a journey even though the battery indicator showed charge remaining — what's causing this?

The GoClever DVR Extreme's battery indicator is mapped to the original cell's discharge curve. After fitting a replacement, that mapping is temporarily out of sync, so the displayed percentage doesn't reflect true remaining capacity. The camera hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff — around 3.0V — while the indicator still shows partial charge. Run one full discharge cycle to cutoff followed by a complete in-body charge, and the firmware recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve.

The replacement battery drains noticeably faster in cold weather — is the cell faulty?

It isn't faulty. Li-ion cells lose usable capacity when the electrolyte cools, and a 660mAh cell at this form factor is particularly sensitive below 5°C. Internal resistance rises, the BMS triggers a low-voltage cutoff earlier than it would at room temperature, and effective capacity can drop by 20–30% in winter conditions. Park the vehicle in a warmer space before a long recording trip, or keep the camera body inside until you're ready to mount it — starting a charge cycle at room temperature gives the cell its full rated capacity before cold exposure.
