Fits Tevion SZ7 and SZ8 digital cameras; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion packs rated 660mAh.
3.7V, 660mAh chemistry delivers 2.44Wh — sufficient for standard shooting sessions without flash-heavy operation.
Battery uses standard camera slot connector; slides in horizontally with no keyed orientation lock on this platform.
Bench test: BMS accepted charge cycle in native camera charger; voltage held stable across 80% discharge window.
On first install, run one full charge-and-shoot cycle in the camera body before extended shooting — Tevion SZ7 firmware maps battery curve during the initial cycle to display accurate remaining capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tevion SZ7 / SZ8 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 660mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Tevion SZ7 and SZ8 compact digital cameras. It slots into the same battery compartment as the original cell and connects via the same contact arrangement. Capacity is 660mAh (2.44Wh), matching the original specification.

  • SZ7 and SZ8 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions — 40.00 × 31.10 × 5.90mm — and operate on the same 3.7V voltage rail. One cell fits both bodies with no modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the camera body's onboard charger and monitored BMS handshake. The camera accepted the cell and battery-remaining display updated correctly after one full charge cycle completed inside the body.
  • First charge via camera body: Charge this cell fully inside the camera body before your first shoot. The SZ7 and SZ8 BMS maps the discharge curve during that initial cycle — skipping it can cause the battery indicator to read inaccurately for the first several uses.

Flash not fully recycling between shots on a new cell

The SZ7's capacitor recharge circuit pulls a short burst of high current after each flash fire. A new cell with no charge history may show a slight voltage dip under that load, extending recycle time by a fraction. This typically resolves after two or three full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. If recycle lag persists past the third cycle, check that the battery contacts in the body are clean and making firm contact.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the SZ7 display

This happens when the camera's indicator hasn't mapped the new cell's discharge curve yet. The SZ7 uses voltage thresholds set against the original cell to estimate remaining charge — a fresh replacement discharges along a slightly different curve until the BMS calibrates. Run two full cycles, charging completely inside the camera body each time, and the percentage readout will stabilise. After the second full cycle, the indicator should track smoothly from 100% down to the low-battery cutoff near 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SZ7 shows a dead battery icon immediately after inserting this replacement — is the cell faulty?

Not necessarily. The SZ7 BMS can reject an uncalibrated cell's voltage reading and default to the dead-battery icon on first install, especially if the cell shipped at partial charge. Place the battery in the camera body, connect the USB charger, and let it complete a full charge cycle before powering on. After that cycle, the camera should read the cell correctly and the icon will clear.

Shot count drops noticeably when shooting with flash compared to what the spec suggests — what's happening?

The 660mAh rating reflects total stored energy, not a shot count, and flash use draws significantly more current per shot than shooting in natural light. Each capacitor recharge after a flash fire adds a current load the spec count doesn't account for. Reduce flash frequency or switch to available light where possible to extend the charge between swaps. If you need sustained flash shooting, carrying a second charged cell is the practical fix.

The camera body gets noticeably warm during continuous video recording — is that a battery issue?

The warmth comes from the combined draw of the image sensor, processor, and any stabilisation running in parallel — not a fault with the cell itself. At 3.7V and 660mAh, this battery is operating at or near its continuous discharge limit during video. Keep recording sessions under five minutes at a stretch and allow the body to cool briefly between clips. If the body triggers an overheat warning, that's the camera's thermal protection activating, not the battery failing.
