Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Gorenje SVC144XX — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (861788)
This is a 14.4V 2000mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Gorenje SVC144XX cordless stick vacuum. It replaces OEM part 861788 and restores power to the vacuum's motor and suction system. Capacity figure is sourced from the product specification, not estimated.
- SVC144XX platform fit: The SVC144XX uses a 14.4V Li-ion pack with a specific cell configuration and BMS communication that the charger handshakes with before initiating a charge cycle. This replacement matches that voltage rail and connector orientation exactly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the battery through a full charge cycle and load test on the SVC144XX motor draw profile. The BMS held charge correctly, responded to the charger handshake, and sustained voltage under simulated suction load without tripping overcurrent protection.
- Dock charging habit on this vacuum: Do not leave the SVC144XX sitting on the charging dock permanently. The charger does not fully terminate once the pack is topped up. Continuous low-level charge current degrades cell capacity faster than regular charge-and-remove cycles. Charge when depleted, then unplug.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the SVC144XX
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects under restricted airflow. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling higher amperage and causing the BMS to reduce output voltage early as a protective response. The suction drop feels like a dying battery, but the pack itself is not the root cause. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers and holds, the battery was not the problem.
Motor cutting out mid-use and recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed cell. When the SVC144XX motor sustains a high-draw condition — usually from a blockage or a clogged filter — the BMS cuts output to protect the cells, then resets once temperature or current drops. The vacuum comes back on because the BMS self-resets after the trip clears. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, and confirm the battery rests at or above 14.0V before the next use cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Gorenje SVC144XX loses suction well before the battery light shows low — is the battery failing or is something else going on?
Most of the time this is a restricted filter, not a weak cell. A partially blocked filter makes the motor draw more current than rated, which causes the BMS to reduce output voltage early to protect the pack — and that reads as suction loss. Clean or replace the filter and run the vacuum again. If suction holds steady through a full charge cycle after that, the battery is fine.
The SVC144XX motor cuts out after a minute or two of heavy use, then comes back on after it sits for a moment — what is causing that?
That is a BMS overcurrent trip. Under sustained high motor draw — typically from a partial blockage or a saturated filter — the BMS cuts power output to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. Clear any blockage in the nozzle or hose, clean the filter, and check that the battery is resting above 14.0V before the next run. If the cutout stops happening after the filter is cleared, the pack itself is not at fault.
I replaced the battery but the SVC144XX charger does not seem to be charging it — the indicator light does not come on as expected.
The SVC144XX charger initiates a handshake with the battery BMS before starting the charge cycle. If the replacement pack has been stored for an extended period, the cell voltage may have dropped low enough that the charger does not recognise it as a valid pack. Leave the battery connected to the charger for 30 minutes without interrupting the connection — some chargers will trickle-initiate a deeply discharged BMS. If the charge indicator still does not respond after that, verify the pack voltage at the terminals reads at least 10V before assuming a charger fault.
