Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gossen METRISO / Metrawatt PROFiTEST — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (HR-3UTGX)
This is a 9.6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Gossen METRISO and Metrawatt PROFiTEST series. Both are precision insulation resistance testers used in electrical testing and inspection work. The pack slots into the instrument's battery compartment and powers the test circuit, display, and measurement electronics.
- METRISO and PROFiTEST compatibility: Both instruments run the same 9.6V battery rail and use the same connector format and BMS handshake protocol. A single pack covers both platforms because the voltage requirement, cell count, and communication logic are identical across the range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the insulation test cycle, including high-voltage output events, and confirmed the BMS handled the load spikes at test initiation without tripping into protection mode. Cell voltage balanced correctly across all eight cells after discharge.
- Post-installation calibration on the METRISO: After fitting a new pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field use. The METRISO maps battery state during calibration — skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings to appear during your first measurement session even when the pack is at full charge.
BMS lockout after the METRISO sat unused in a carry case for months
Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. After several months in storage, a pack can drop below the BMS's minimum recovery threshold — typically around 6V for a 9.6V Ni-MH pack. When the instrument attempts to power on, the BMS detects undervoltage and blocks output to protect the cells. Connecting the pack to the charger and holding it on charge for a full recovery cycle — do not interrupt it — will bring the cells back above the 6V floor and allow normal operation to resume.
METRISO display resetting or blanking mid-insulation test
Insulation resistance testing at high voltage draws a sharp current spike from the battery at the moment the test circuit energises. On a degraded or partially discharged pack, this spike causes a momentary voltage dropout that the instrument's processor interprets as a power loss — resetting the display or aborting the test. This is a cell-capacity issue, not a firmware fault. Charge the pack fully before a test session and confirm resting voltage reads at or above 9.6V before starting work.

Frequently Asked Questions
My METRISO powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start an insulation test — why?
The high-voltage test circuit draws a sharp current spike at test initiation. If the pack is partially discharged or the cells have aged, that spike causes a voltage dropout deep enough to trigger the instrument's under-voltage cutoff. This is a cell condition issue, not a fault with the instrument. Charge the pack fully and confirm resting voltage is at or above 9.6V before running the test.
The METRISO won't charge after sitting in the case all winter — is the pack dead?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage, and after several months a pack can drop below the BMS recovery threshold. The charger may show no activity or an error because the BMS is blocking input to protect the cells. Leave the pack connected to the charger without interrupting the cycle — most chargers will trickle-charge below the threshold until cells recover above 6V, at which point normal charge resumes.
Readings drift or reset partway through a logging session on the PROFiTEST — what causes that?
Sustained sensor load during a logging session draws continuous current, which causes cumulative voltage sag across the pack. If cell capacity has degraded, voltage dips below the instrument's operating floor during the session and the processor resets to recover. This is different from a shutdown at test start — it happens progressively as the cells tire under load. Replace the pack and run the instrument's calibration cycle so it correctly maps the new pack's voltage curve before the next session.
