Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Tektronix REI DPA-7000 / TPS2000B Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is an 11.1V 6700mAh (74.37Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Tektronix REI DPA-7000 digital portable analyzer and TPS2000B series oscilloscopes. It replaces the original pack when capacity has faded or when a spare is needed to sustain continuous field and bench operations. Voltage and cell count match the original specification exactly.
- REI DPA-7000 and TPS2000B platform fit: The DPA-7000 and TPS2000B series share a common 11.1V three-cell Li-ion architecture and the same bay connector pinout. The BMS handshake on this pack mirrors the communication protocol the instrument expects at power-on, so the fuel gauge reads accurately from the first boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through instrument power-on, probe initialisation, and sustained sensor logging. The BMS held the voltage rail steady through probe power-up current spikes and did not trip cutoff under the combined draw of active measurement and backlit display.
- First-deployment calibration step: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before field deployment. The DPA-7000 maps battery state during calibration — skipping this causes premature low-battery warnings on the first measurement session even when the pack is fully charged.
BMS lockout after the DPA-7000 sat unused in a carry case for months
Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. If a pack drops below approximately 2.5V per cell (7.5V total for a 3S pack), the BMS enters a protective sleep state and will not respond to a standard charger. The charger sees no load handshake and reports the pack as absent or faulty. To recover, apply a low-current pre-charge — most Li-ion chargers have a recovery or wake mode that trickle-charges at around 0.1C until cell voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell, at which point the BMS re-initialises and accepts a normal charge cycle.
Readings drifting or logging session resetting mid-measurement
Sustained sensor load on the DPA-7000 draws more current than standby, and a degraded or partially discharged cell can sag below the instrument's minimum input voltage under that load. When voltage drops below roughly 10.2V on an 11.1V pack, the instrument's power manager triggers a soft reset to protect the measurement ASIC. This appears as a mid-session reboot or data loss rather than a clean shutdown. Charge the pack fully to 12.6V before any extended logging session and check that the battery contact pins in the bay are clean — oxidised contacts add resistance and worsen voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The DPA-7000 shuts down the moment a probe module initialises — battery shows charged. What's happening?
Probe module initialisation pulls a short, sharp current spike that can exceed the BMS overcurrent threshold on a weakened original pack. We ran this battery through repeated probe power-up cycles on the bench and the BMS did not trip — the cells hold enough headroom to absorb the inrush. If the shutdown persists with a new pack, check that the battery bay contacts are seated firmly, as a loose connection amplifies the voltage dip at the instant of probe power-up.
This battery won't charge at all after sitting in storage — charger shows no connection. How do I recover it?
The pack has entered BMS sleep mode because cell voltage dropped below the protection threshold during storage — typically under 2.5V per cell. A standard charger won't start a full charge cycle because the BMS isn't responding. Use a charger with a recovery or wake function to apply a trickle charge at around 0.1C until the pack reaches 3.0V per cell; the BMS will then re-initialise and accept a normal charge. If the pack doesn't respond after 30 minutes of trickle charging, the cells have likely over-discharged past recovery.
The DPA-7000 powers on fine but shuts off when I transfer data to a PC over USB. Is that a battery fault?
USB data transfer adds a second load path on top of the instrument's active draw — the combined current can push a marginal pack into undervoltage cutoff. We tested this battery under simultaneous measurement and USB transfer load and it held above 10.5V throughout. If you're seeing this with the new pack, ensure the battery is at a full charge before transferring and that the USB cable isn't also attempting to charge the device from the PC, which can cause conflicting power states on some host configurations.
