Fits GP80AAALH3BMX cordless phone handsets; replaces OEM part GP80AAALH3BMX.
3.6V, 800mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated capacity across typical cordless phone duty cycles.
Connector slides into handset battery slot with positive contact forward; locking tab seats flush.
We bench-tested the BMS on a GP base station charger — voltage ramped steady, no fault codes.
After installation, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP GP80AAALH3BMX — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for GP cordless phone handsets using the GP80AAALH3BMX pack. It fits the wireless handset directly, restoring power to units where the original cell has degraded or failed to hold charge. Voltage and form factor match the original specification at 50.86 x 31.42 x 10.52mm.

  • GP80AAALH3BMX handset fit: These cordless handsets run a 3.6V three-cell AAA Ni-MH configuration. The connector pinout and physical tray dimensions align with the original pack, so the battery seats without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran charge cycles through a DECT handset base unit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without triggering fault states. The cells reached stable voltage after three full conditioning cycles.
  • First-charge protocol for Ni-MH handsets: After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16 hours before the first call. Ni-MH cells in cordless phones are shipped partially discharged — a slow initial charge through the base circuit lets the cells reach rated capacity rather than a surface charge plateau.

Base station showing charging error after installing a new Ni-MH pack

DECT base stations use a delta-V detection circuit to confirm charging. A new Ni-MH battery stored for several months can arrive at a resting voltage low enough that the base reads it as a fault rather than a dischargeable cell. This does not mean the battery is defective. Place the handset in the base, leave it undisturbed for at least two hours, and the voltage will rise enough for the base to recognise the pack and switch to normal charge mode.

Range drops noticeably when the handset moves away from the base

RF transmit power in DECT handsets draws short bursts of current from the battery. When a Ni-MH cell is not yet conditioned, its internal resistance is higher, causing voltage to sag under that RF load. The handset firmware interprets the sag as a low-battery state and reduces transmit power to protect the cell. Run three full charge-and-use cycles through the base, and internal resistance will fall — target a resting voltage of 3.6V before each cycle begins.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GP cordless handset shows a full charge but talk time is much shorter than it used to be — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. Ni-MH cordless phone batteries ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-and-use cycles before they reach rated capacity. Each cycle through the base charges the cells a little deeper than the last. After the fifth cycle, talk time should stabilise at or near the 800mAh rated capacity — if it does not, check that the handset sits flush in the base cradle with both contacts making clean connection.

The base unit light stays red and never switches to green after I installed the new battery — what is happening?

The base is running a delta-V check and the cell voltage arriving from storage is below its acceptance threshold. This is a voltage recognition issue, not a charging fault. Leave the handset seated in the base without removing it for two hours — the trickle current will raise the pack voltage above the threshold and the base will switch to its normal charge cycle. Do not remove and reinsert the handset during this window, as that resets the detection timer.

My handset was fully charged at bedtime but the battery is dead by morning without any calls — why is it draining overnight?

Overnight drain without use points to the handset not making full contact with the base cradle charging pins. When the handset sits slightly off-centre, the base stops topping up the battery and standby current slowly pulls the pack down. Check that the handset clicks into the cradle firmly and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean — wipe them with a dry cloth. A correctly seated handset should read 3.6V or above each morning.
