Fits Gtech Multi K9 and AFT001 models; replaces OEM part number 102A0008.
22V lithium-ion at 2000mAh delivers consistent motor voltage under carpet load and sustained suction cycles.
Battery slides into the side-mounted slot with a single locking tab that clicks when seated fully.
We ran load tests on the Gtech charger dock — BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion without fault cycling.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge; trickle-charge cycles degrade capacity faster than charge-on-demand cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gtech Multi K9 / AFT001 — 22V Li-ion Replacement Battery (102A0008)

This is a 22V, 2000mAh (44Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Gtech Multi K9 and AFT001 cordless vacuum. It slots into the battery bay using the same connector and latch as the original 102A0008 cell. When the stock battery won't hold charge long enough to finish a clean, this is the direct swap.

  • Multi K9 and AFT001 compatibility: Both models share the same 22V power rail, battery bay dimensions, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits either unit without adapters or modifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Multi K9 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the vacuum's charge circuit and the protection cutoffs triggered at the expected voltage thresholds under load.
  • Dock charging habit on the Multi K9: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock between uses. The Multi K9 dock does not cut trickle current once the cell reaches full charge, so continuous docking accelerates capacity fade. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

The Multi K9 motor draws higher current the moment airflow is restricted — a partially blocked filter or full dust cup forces the motor to work harder to maintain suction. That elevated draw causes voltage to sag at the cell before the indicator logic registers a low state, so the vacuum feels weak while the LED still shows charge remaining. The BMS reads cell voltage under load, not resting voltage, which is why the indicator lags behind real performance. Clear the filter and empty the cup first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the cause.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a flat battery. When the motor sustains a high-draw state — usually from a blocked filter or a hair wrap on the brush bar — current spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the cell disconnects to prevent damage. After a few seconds the BMS resets, power returns, and the cycle repeats if the restriction is still there. Remove the brush bar, check for blockages in the inlet, and clean the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. A healthy replacement cell will trip the same way under the same conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gtech Multi K9 loses suction well before the battery light comes on — why does it feel flat when it's showing charge?

The battery indicator reads resting cell voltage, not voltage under motor load. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than rated and the cell voltage sags under that load — performance drops even though the indicator hasn't caught up. Clean or replace the filter and empty the dust cup first. If suction returns to normal, the battery is not the problem.

The Multi K9 keeps cutting out for a few seconds then coming back on — is the replacement battery faulty?

That cut-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. The protection circuit disconnects the battery when current spikes past its threshold — typically caused by a hair wrap on the brush bar or a blockage in the inlet tube. Remove the brush bar and clear any restriction before blaming the battery. A new cell will trip identically if the blockage is still there.

My Multi K9 battery used to last a full clean but the replacement is already noticeably weaker after a few months — what causes that?

Leaving the vacuum on the charging dock between every use is the most common cause of early capacity fade on this platform. The Multi K9 dock continues to pass trickle current after the cell reaches full charge, and sustained trickle charging degrades lithium-ion cells faster than normal cycle use. Charge the battery to full, then lift the vacuum off the dock and store it unplugged. That single change significantly slows capacity loss on replacement cells.
