HBC TTB 10 — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT213020)

This is a 6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH battery for the HBC TTB 10 wireless crane remote transmitter. It replaces OEM part numbers BT213020 and BT213001. If your crane remote has lost charge capacity or won't hold power through a shift, this is the direct cell replacement.

  • TTB 10 transmitter fitment: The TTB 10 uses a proprietary battery bay sized at 166.60 × 56.90 × 20.50mm with a 6V Ni-MH chemistry requirement. The onboard circuit expects that voltage rail and that chemistry — substituting Li-ion or a different voltage pack will cause the remote to fault or fail to register with the crane receiver.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through repeated solenoid-activation sequences simulating real hoist commands. The BMS held stable through sustained inrush current events with no cutoff or voltage dropout during switching.

Solenoid activation causing power dropout on the TTB 10

When the TTB 10 sends a hoist or travel command, the crane's solenoid or relay draws a sharp inrush current through the transmitter's power circuit. A battery with degraded internal resistance — or one at low state of charge — will sag below the remote's minimum operating voltage at that exact moment. The remote interprets this as a power loss and either resets or drops the command signal. The fix is to start with a fully charged battery, since Ni-MH cells at 100% charge have their lowest internal resistance and best current delivery. If dropout persists with a new battery, check terminal contact pressure inside the battery bay.

Ni-MH batteries ship at storage voltage — typically 5.4–5.7V for a 6V pack — not at full charge. The TTB 10 reads voltage to estimate state of charge, so a partially charged cell will trigger the low-battery indicator straight away. This is not a fault with the battery. Connect the transmitter to its charger for a full cycle before the first use. After a complete charge, the voltage should sit at approximately 7.2V open-circuit and the low-battery warning will clear.

My HBC TTB 10 remote won't turn on after sitting in storage for three months — is the battery dead for good?

Ni-MH cells left uncharged for months can drop to a voltage the remote's circuit won't recognise as valid power. Connect the battery to the charger for at least 30 minutes before writing it off — Ni-MH chemistry, unlike Li-ion, can recover from deep self-discharge without a BMS lockout preventing charge acceptance. If the charger shows no activity at all after 30 minutes, check charger output at the connector with a multimeter. A reading below 6V at the battery terminals during charge indicates a faulty charger, not a dead battery.

The TTB 10 drops out mid-command when I activate the hoist travel function — it powers back on immediately after, but the command didn't go through.

That dropout pattern is an inrush current spike from the solenoid pulling the battery voltage below the remote's operating threshold for a split second. It happens when the battery is either partially charged or has elevated internal resistance from age. Charge the battery fully before the shift — Ni-MH cells deliver their lowest internal resistance at full charge, which limits voltage sag under sudden load. If the problem continues with a fully charged new battery, clean the battery bay contacts with isopropyl alcohol and check for corrosion causing added resistance.

Why does the TTB 10 run through batteries faster in cold weather on outdoor job sites?

Ni-MH chemistry loses usable capacity as temperature drops — at 0°C a 2000mAh pack may only deliver 60–70% of its rated capacity before the voltage falls below the remote's cutoff threshold. The battery is not failing; the available energy simply shrinks in the cold. Store the transmitter inside or in a heated cab between uses to keep the cells above 10°C. Warming the battery back to ambient temperature before powering on the remote will restore close to full available capacity for that shift.
