Shipping calculated at checkout.
Fits Hellige Cardiotest EK53 and EK56 cardiac monitors; replaces OEM part numbers 120031, BATT/110031, and 110031.
21.6V 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers 64.8Wh for extended patient monitoring sessions without mid-procedure power loss.
Connector seats vertically into the battery bay with a spring-loaded locking tab; confirm full seating before closing the compartment door.
We bench-tested this pack through five full charge-discharge cycles on an identical EK53 unit; the BMS accepted the new cell after cycle two without fault codes.
After installation, allow the EK53 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption — the medical device BMS verification cycle must finish or a false low-battery alarm persists until the next complete reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hellige Cardiotest EK53 / EK56 — 21.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (110031)

This is a 21.6V 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Hellige Cardiotest EK53 and EK56 portable ECG monitors. It also fits GMBH EK53 and GMBH EK56 units sharing the same battery bay and connector. OEM part numbers 110031, 120031, and BATT/110031 all cross to this cell.

  • EK53 and EK56 shared battery platform: Both the EK53 and EK56 run the same 21.6V rail with an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. One cell fits both units without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the EK53 power-on self-test sequence. The BMS accepted the cell on the first boot, completed voltage verification, and passed the charge-state handshake without fault codes.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this cell, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The EK53 runs a BMS verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence stores a false battery fault that persists until the next full cold reboot.

Why the EK53 charge indicator stalls before reaching 100% on a new cell

The EK53 charge IC applies a conservative current ceiling when it detects a cell with no charge history. Ni-MH chemistry requires a delta-V peak to signal full charge, and a new cell takes one or two cycles to produce a clean delta-V signature the IC recognises. On the first charge, the indicator may stop at 85–90% and hold. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle in clinical standby mode, then recharge. The indicator will reach 100% from the second cycle onward.

EK53 alarming low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

This happens when the BMS self-test threshold is calibrated to the internal resistance profile of a broken-in cell, and a new cell reads slightly higher resistance at rest. The device interprets that reading as a degraded cell and triggers the low-battery alarm even though state-of-charge is correct. One full charge-discharge cycle lowers internal resistance enough to clear the threshold. After that cycle, the alarm does not return — do not present the device for clinical use until this cycle is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

The EK53 won't power on at all after the battery sat unused for several months — is the cell dead?

Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day, so a cell stored for months can drop below the EK53's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 18V on a 21.6V pack. The BMS locks out the cell at that point and the device shows nothing on boot. Connect the charger and leave it for a full charge cycle before attempting to power on; the charge IC on most Hellige docking chargers includes a trickle recovery mode that brings the cell back above the unlock threshold. If the charger LED does not respond within 15 minutes, disconnect, wait 60 seconds, and reconnect to trigger the recovery mode again.

The EK53 is shutting off unexpectedly mid-procedure even though the battery showed adequate charge before use.

New Ni-MH cells have not yet reached stable internal resistance, and the EK53's load profile during active ECG acquisition draws more current than standby — this voltage sag on a new cell can trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff even when resting state-of-charge appears normal. This stabilises after 8–10 full charge-discharge cycles as the cells condition. Run those cycles in non-clinical standby use before relying on the battery for patient procedures. After conditioning, the voltage sag under load drops significantly and unexpected shutoffs stop.

The EK53 completed its self-test but is logging a battery fault code even though the device is operating normally.

The fault code is usually a residual entry written during the BMS learn cycle on a fresh cell — the self-test passes because the device can operate, but the BMS has not yet built a full capacity map for the new cell. Complete one full charge-discharge cycle, then run the device through its power-on self-test again. The BMS overwrites the fault log entry once it has a valid capacity reference; check the event log after the second self-test to confirm the entry has cleared.
