Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi VLH100L / VM-645LA Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (M-BPL30)
This is a 7.4V, 2000mAh Li-ion replacement cell for the Hitachi VLH100L and the broader VM-600/800 series camcorders. It slots into the same battery bay as the original M-BPL30 and shares the same connector pinout. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec: 7.4V nominal, 2000mAh, 14.8Wh.
- VLH100L and VM-series compatibility: These models share a common battery bay and BMS handshake protocol across the VM-BPL13, VM-BPL27, and VM-BPL60 OEM part numbers. The connector, voltage rail, and communication lines are identical across this camcorder family, so one cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a VM-series body. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags on both the OEM charger and in-body charging. Voltage held steady across the discharge curve with no premature cutoff events.
- First-use charge cycle on VLH100L: Run one complete charge cycle in the camcorder body — not a standalone charger — before your first recording session. The VLH100L's battery management system maps remaining-charge display against a learned discharge curve, and it needs that in-body cycle to calibrate the indicator correctly.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the VLH100L display
The VLH100L uses voltage thresholds to estimate remaining charge and maps those thresholds to a discharge curve it expects from the original cell. A new Li-ion cell has a slightly flatter mid-range discharge curve than an aged OEM battery, so the camera's indicator can misread the state of charge. This causes the percentage to jump — sometimes dropping 20% in seconds, then stabilising. One full in-body charge cycle from flat to full resets the camera's learned curve and corrects the display.
Camcorder shows dead-battery indicator immediately after fitting a new cell
This happens when the VM-series BMS hasn't completed an initial handshake with the new cell's protection circuit. The camera reads the cell's state as unknown and defaults to a fault indicator rather than attempting to draw current. Remove the battery, reinsert it firmly, and place the camcorder on charge via the OEM charger for at least 10 minutes. Once the charger confirms cell presence at a stable voltage — typically above 7.0V — the body accepts the cell and the indicator clears.

Frequently Asked Questions
My VLH100L shows a full charge, then drops to empty halfway through recording — what's happening?
The camcorder's battery gauge maps voltage thresholds to charge percentage using a curve calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a flatter mid-range discharge curve throws off that mapping, causing sudden indicator drops even when usable charge remains. Run one full charge cycle inside the camcorder body — from flat to full — before your next shoot. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the gauge tracks accurately.
The replacement battery fits but the VLH100L won't power on and shows no indicator at all — how do I fix it?
The VM-series BMS requires a minimum cell voltage before it will authorise power-on — if the cell shipped partially discharged and dropped below the body's low-voltage threshold in transit, the camera rejects it entirely rather than attempting to boot. Connect the battery to the OEM charger first, not the camera. Let it charge for 15–20 minutes until the charger confirms a stable input above 7.0V, then reinsert it into the camcorder body.
My shot count on the VLH100L is noticeably lower in cold weather with the new battery — is the cell faulty?
It isn't a fault — Li-ion cells lose available capacity as temperature drops because ion mobility through the electrolyte slows down. At 0°C a 2000mAh cell can deliver as little as 70% of its rated capacity. Keep the camcorder and battery warm before use — a jacket pocket for 10 minutes is enough — and the available capacity recovers close to the rated 2000mAh once the cell reaches ambient indoor temperature.
