Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Honeywell RP4 / RP4D — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (550053-000)
This is a 7.4V 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Honeywell RP4 and RP4D mobile thermal printers. It replaces OEM part number 550053-000. The RP4 series is used in field delivery, retail, and logistics operations where printing happens away from fixed power.
- RP4 and RP4D compatibility: Both models run the same 7.4V battery rail and use an identical connector and BMS handshake protocol. One battery fits both variants — no adapter or firmware difference applies.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this battery through charge and discharge cycles on the RP4 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the printer's power management circuit, accepted full charge without error, and drove the thermal head and paper feed motor at consistent voltage throughout the discharge cycle.
- First deployment print sequence: After installing, charge fully and print five test receipts before putting the unit into service. Portable printer paper feed motors require this calibration sequence to confirm the BMS current profile is correctly set for the new cell — skipping it can cause false low-battery warnings on early cycles.
Why the RP4 thermal head produces faint output at certain battery states
The RP4's thermal print head requires a stable voltage supply to hold the correct temperature across the full width of a print line. When battery voltage sags — either from a degraded cell or a partially charged new one — the head cannot sustain consistent heat output. The result is uneven print density: darker on one side, faint or blank on the other. If this happens on a new battery, run a full charge cycle first, then re-test at full charge before assuming a hardware fault.
RP4 disconnecting from Bluetooth or Wi-Fi mid-print job
The RP4's wireless radio draws additional current during active transmission, and this load combines with the thermal head draw during printing. At low or degraded battery voltage, the combined draw causes a momentary voltage sag that trips the BMS or causes the radio module to reset. This shows up as a dropped connection mid-job rather than a clean low-battery warning. Charge the battery to at least 7.2V before starting high-volume print jobs and confirm the charge indicator shows full before deployment.

Frequently Asked Questions
My RP4 won't print at all after sitting unused for several months — is the battery dead?
Long storage drains Li-ion cells below the minimum motor drive voltage the RP4 needs to operate the paper feed and thermal head. The BMS may also enter a protection state if the cell dropped below 6.0V during storage. Connect the printer to the charger for a full uninterrupted charge cycle — most units recover and print normally once voltage is restored above 7.0V.
The paper feed on my RP4 keeps jamming even though the battery is charged — what's causing it?
Paper feed jams on the RP4 are often a torque issue, not a paper or roller issue. The feed motor relies on consistent voltage to maintain enough pressure to pull media through cleanly — as battery capacity fades with age, voltage under motor load drops and feed pressure becomes insufficient. Test by checking open-circuit battery voltage with a multimeter: a healthy cell reads 8.3–8.4V at full charge. If it reads below 7.8V immediately after a full charge, the cell has degraded and needs replacing.
Print quality is fine at the start of a job but gets patchy halfway through a large batch — what's happening?
This is thermal head voltage sag under sustained load. Large print batches keep the thermal head energised continuously, drawing current that a degraded or partially charged battery cannot sustain at stable voltage. As voltage drops mid-batch, the head temperature fluctuates and print density becomes inconsistent. Charge fully before any high-volume run, and if the problem persists on a full charge, check that the battery's resting voltage holds above 7.6V five minutes after removing it from the charger.
