Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Pavilion 15-CS1004NA — 15.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HSTNN-IB8S)
This is a 15.4V, 4350mAh (66.99Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Pavilion 15-CS series notebook. It fits the 15-CS1004NA and over 40 closely related CS1000-range models. The OEM part numbers covered include HSTNN-IB8S, L32535-141, L32535-1C1, L32654-005, and LG04XL.
- Pavilion 15-CS series compatibility: Every model in this CS1000 range uses the same 15.4V four-cell LG04XL cell stack, identical connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol. One battery covers the full group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Pavilion 15-CS unit. The BMS completed full charge termination at 16.8V, and the protection circuit held under sustained CPU and display load without tripping.
- Post-install calibration on the Pavilion 15-CS: After fitting this battery, run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff on a single discharge, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the CS series throws after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The Pavilion 15-CS BIOS reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the battery's BMS — not from live cell measurements. When a new cell arrives, that EEPROM contains factory baseline data the BIOS hasn't yet validated against actual charge cycles. The system flags it as unknown or degraded because it has no learned history for the new pack. One complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the BIOS enough data to update its health register correctly.
Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% shown on the fuel gauge
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The new lithium-polymer cell has a steeper voltage drop in the lower state-of-charge range, so the gauge misreads remaining capacity and reports 20–30% while the cell is already near cutoff voltage. The laptop shuts down because the cell can't sustain voltage under combined CPU and display load, not because of a battery fault. Run two full calibration cycles — discharge to hibernate, charge to 100% — and the fuel gauge IC will re-map to the new cell's actual curve.

Frequently Asked Questions
My HP Pavilion 15-CS shows the replacement battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" — what's causing that?
The BIOS fuel gauge IC lost sync with the new cell's EEPROM data during the swap. Shut the laptop down completely, remove the AC adapter, hold the power button for 15 seconds to drain residual charge from the board, then reconnect power and boot. If the gauge still reads 0%, perform a full discharge to hibernate followed by a charge to 100% — this forces the BIOS to re-initialise the battery learn cycle against the new cell.
Windows shows this battery as 66.99Wh but HP Support Assistant reports a different Wh rating — which is correct?
The 66.99Wh figure in the product data reflects the actual cell chemistry in this pack. HP Support Assistant pulls its Wh value from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the OEM-rated design capacity — that rated figure can differ slightly from real-world measured capacity depending on cell batch. Neither reading indicates a fault. After one or two full calibration cycles, Windows Battery Report will settle on a figure that accurately reflects this cell's actual full-charge capacity.
Why does this battery stop charging at 80% on my Pavilion 15-CS even though the adapter is connected?
HP's Battery Care function in the BIOS caps charge at 80% when enabled — this is firmware-controlled and has nothing to do with the replacement cell. Go into the BIOS setup (F10 at boot), navigate to Power, and check whether Battery Care Mode or Adaptive Battery Charging is turned on. Disabling it allows the battery to charge to a full 16.8V termination voltage. If the setting is already off and charge still stops at 80%, run a forced discharge to hibernate and let it charge uninterrupted to confirm the BMS isn't holding a stale charge-limit flag from the previous cell.
