Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

HTC Touch 3G / Jade — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (JADE160)
This is a 3.7V, 1100mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the HTC Touch 3G and Jade series smartphones, including the Jade 100 and T3232. It replaces OEM part numbers JADE160, 35H00118-00M, and BA S330. If the original cell no longer holds charge through a normal day, this is the direct replacement.
- Touch 3G and Jade series fitment: The Touch 3G, Jade, Jade 100, and T3232 all share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout — 50.99 × 36.56 × 5.40mm. The BMS handshake is matched to the 3.7V nominal rail these devices expect, so the phone's charge IC communicates correctly with the replacement cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Touch 3G platform. The BMS held charge termination at 4.2V and triggered low-voltage cutoff before the cell dropped into the unsafe range. No thermal events occurred during the test cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this battery, run one complete discharge down to auto-shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The Touch 3G's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — one full cycle resets it against this replacement cell's actual capacity curve.
Why the Touch 3G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Touch 3G uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its percentage readings from a stored discharge curve tied to the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The phone reads voltage correctly but maps it to the wrong percentage point. One complete discharge-to-shutdown followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the IC enough data to rebuild an accurate curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% remaining on the Touch 3G
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically when the 3G radio fires a transmission burst or the backlight peaks — and the BMS cuts out to protect the cell. It is not a faulty battery; it is the BMS responding to a voltage sag the fuel gauge IC did not anticipate because it has not yet recalibrated to the new cell. After one full calibration cycle, the IC tracks the actual voltage cliff of the replacement cell and the percentage reading at cutoff drops to a more accurate low number. If shutdown still occurs below 3.4V under modem load after two full cycles, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Touch 3G won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
Most likely the BMS has locked out because the cell discharged below 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. A trickle current from the charger can bring the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. If the charge LED does not light within 30 minutes, the cell has dropped too far for BMS recovery and the replacement battery resolves this.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — drops from 60% to 15% in minutes, then jumps back up.
The fuel gauge IC on the Touch 3G is running a discharge curve calibrated to the old, degraded cell. With a new replacement cell, the voltage-to-percentage mapping is off, so small real voltage changes produce large percentage swings. Run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets against the actual capacity of the new cell and the readings stabilise.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell — is something wrong?
Some warmth during the first few charge cycles is expected. A new high-impedance cell draws current differently from a broken-in one, and the charge IC on the Touch 3G responds by slightly increasing charge voltage to push current in — that produces more heat at the cell surface. Warmth is normal; hot to the touch is not. If the phone is uncomfortable to hold during charging after the second or third cycle, check that nothing is covering the battery compartment and that the charge IC is not stuck in fast-charge mode — if the device supports it, switch to a standard 5V/500mA charger for the first two full cycles.
