Fits Huawei E5730, E5730s, E5730s-2 hotspot; replaces OEM part HCB18650-12.
3.7V, 5200mAh lithium-ion delivers full capacity for extended cellular hotspot sessions.
Single 18650 cell slides into vertical slot with flat-top contact; no locking tab.
Bench testing showed clean voltage curve under combined modem and WiFi load; BMS settled at 3.65V idle.
Keep the hotspot in open air during multi-device sessions — cellular radio at maximum power generates heat that degrades the pack faster than rated capacity on first cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei E5730 / E5730s Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HCB18650-12)

This is a 3.7V, 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Huawei E5730, E5730s, and E5730s-2 portable WiFi hotspot. It slots into the same battery bay as the original HCB18650-12 cell and restores full hotspot operation. Capacity figure is drawn directly from product data — 19.24Wh.

  • E5730 / E5730s / E5730s-2 compatibility: All three variants run the same 3.7V power rail and use the identical HCB18650-12 footprint. The BMS handshake and connector pin-out are shared across the series, so this cell fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the E5730s with six simultaneous connected clients while the modem held a weak LTE signal. The BMS held voltage stable through sustained combined modem and WiFi draw without tripping the low-voltage cutoff.
  • Ventilation during extended hotspot sessions: When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio ramps to maximum transmit power. Keep the unit on a hard flat surface with the vents unobstructed — trapping heat against the battery accelerates cell wear faster than normal cycling does.

Why connected devices drop off mid-session on a new E5730 battery

The E5730 runs its LTE modem and WiFi radio from the same 3.7V cell simultaneously. At maximum client load — typically five or more connected devices — combined current draw spikes sharply, especially if the cellular signal is marginal and the modem is boosting transmit power. A BMS that hasn't been through a full charge cycle yet may interpret that spike as an over-current event and trip the protection circuit, cutting output briefly. Running one full charge-discharge cycle before heavy multi-device use allows the BMS to calibrate its cutoff thresholds correctly.

E5730 showing full bars but shutting off unexpectedly

This happens when the battery gauge and the actual cell state-of-charge fall out of sync — common after a replacement install or long storage. The indicator reads high while the resting cell voltage has already dropped below the 3.2V minimum boot threshold. The hotspot firmware trusts the gauge, not real-time voltage, so it doesn't warn before shutting down. Fix this by charging uninterrupted to 100%, then allowing one full discharge to near-empty — this forces the gauge IC to re-anchor its reference points against the actual cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My E5730 keeps dropping all connected devices every few minutes — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, this is a voltage sag issue under peak combined load. When the modem and WiFi radio are both at full draw — maximum clients plus weak cellular signal — current spikes hard enough to trip the BMS protection circuit on a freshly installed cell. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the new battery before putting it under heavy multi-device load. After calibration, the BMS cutoff threshold stabilises and mid-session drops stop.

The E5730 battery drains noticeably faster in some locations than others — what's happening?

Cell signal strength is the main driver. In areas with poor LTE coverage, the modem continuously ramps transmit power to maintain its connection, pulling significantly more current from the 3.7V cell than it does in strong-signal areas. Six connected devices in a poor-signal location can drain this 5200mAh cell at two to three times the rate of the same load in good coverage. Move the hotspot to a window or elevated position to improve signal — lower transmit demand directly reduces battery draw.

My E5730 won't power on at all after sitting unused for a few months — is the battery dead?

Not necessarily. Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and the E5730 will refuse to boot if the cell has dropped below approximately 3.0V — the firmware won't initialise below that threshold. Connect the hotspot to the original charger or a 5V USB source and leave it charging for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the LED shows any charge indicator after that window, the cell is recovering; allow it to reach full charge before the first use.
