Fits Vodafone R212 hotspot; replaces OEM battery Li3728T42P3h774771.
3.7V, 2500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 9.25Wh to sustain WiFi and cellular radio draw.
Connector slides into the R212 battery slot; no locking tab, flat contact surface.
Bench testing showed stable voltage ramp on first charge; BMS accepted the cell without fault codes.
On initial deployment with multiple connected devices, run in 4G mode first — 5G radio draw can cause voltage sag that triggers hotspot disconnect until the pack acclimates to load signature.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vodafone R212 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Li3728T42P3h774771)

This 3.7V, 2500mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the OEM unit in the Vodafone R212 portable WiFi hotspot. It fits directly into the R212 battery bay and connects to the device's BMS via the original contact plate. Capacity is 2500mAh (9.25Wh), matching the factory specification.

  • R212 platform fit: The R212 uses a slim Li-Polymer cell at 3.7V nominal — a format that keeps the housing thin while supporting the combined current draw of the cellular modem and the WiFi radio simultaneously. This cell matches that voltage rail and physical footprint (75.70 × 47.05 × 6.90mm).
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell under simultaneous modem and WiFi load. The BMS held charge termination at 4.2V and cut off at the expected low-voltage threshold without false trips or thermal events.
  • Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the R212 in an open, ventilated spot during long hotspot sessions. When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at full output power — this raises cell temperature faster than normal browsing use and accelerates wear over time.

Mobile hotspot disconnecting users mid-session on a new battery

The R212 runs two radios at once — a cellular modem and a WiFi access point. At maximum connected devices, both draw peak current at the same moment, creating a combined load spike the BMS reads as an over-current event. The device drops the WiFi broadcast briefly to protect the cell, which users see as a disconnection. Keeping connected device count below the R212's rated maximum reduces these spikes and keeps the BMS from intervening.

R212 not powering on after sitting unused for several weeks

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. If the R212 was stored with a low charge, the cell can drop below the BMS's minimum boot voltage — typically around 3.0V — and the device simply won't start. Connect the R212 to its charger and leave it for at least 20–30 minutes before attempting to power it on; most BMS circuits require a brief pre-charge trickle to wake a deeply discharged cell. If the charge LED activates, the cell is recovering. If there is no LED response after 45 minutes, check the charger output is stable at 5V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vodafone R212 is draining the new battery much faster when I'm at the edge of the cellular coverage area — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the battery. In poor signal areas, the R212's cellular modem steps up to maximum transmit power to maintain the connection, which can triple the radio's current draw compared to strong-signal conditions. That increased draw comes directly from the cell, shortening the time between charges. Moving the R212 closer to a window or an external location with stronger signal is the most direct fix — it drops the modem back to a lower power state.

The R212 hotspot feels noticeably warm to the touch during long sessions — will this damage the new battery?

Heat during extended sessions is a real stress factor for Li-Polymer cells. The cellular radio and WiFi chip both generate heat under sustained load, and at maximum connected devices that heat accumulates inside the housing. Prolonged exposure above 40°C accelerates electrolyte degradation and reduces usable cycle life. Place the R212 on a hard, flat surface with airflow underneath — not on soft furnishings — and avoid direct sunlight.

The R212 shows a full charge indicator but then shuts down within a short time of unplugging — what is causing this?

This is a state-of-charge calibration mismatch between the BMS and the new cell. After installing a replacement battery, the fuel gauge IC may still be referencing the degraded capacity curve of the old cell. Run the R212 down until it powers off automatically, then charge it uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. This forces the BMS to re-map the cell's actual capacity endpoints and restores accurate charge reporting.
