Fits HYT TC-446S, TC-518, TC-580, TC-560 radios; replaces OEM battery BL1301 and BL1719.
7.4V 1800mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 13.32Wh for sustained portable radio operation without mid-shift power loss.
Gold contact strip slides into the radio battery slot with a firm click; locking tab seats flush against the rear housing.
We ran full transmit cycles on a TC-446S dock and confirmed the BMS accepted handshake on first insertion with clean contacts.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED after inserting this cell, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the HYT platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HYT TC-446S / TC-580 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1301 / BL1719)

This is a 7.4V, 1800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for HYT two-way radios including the TC-446S, TC-518, TC-580, and TC-560. It uses OEM part numbers BL1301 and BL1719. The battery slots directly into the radio's battery compartment and connects via the standard HYT contact strip.

  • TC-446S, TC-518, TC-580, TC-560 compatibility: These models share the same 7.4V power rail, identical battery footprint, and the same BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single pack covers the full group. The connector pinout and locking tab position are consistent across this HYT platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a TC-580 bench unit and cycled the BMS through transmit loads. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcurrent events on PTT press and recovered without fault. Cell voltage at rest settled at 7.6V after a full charge cycle.
  • First insertion on the HYT charger dock: If the dock LED flashes fault on first seating, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The HYT charger requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before it begins charging.

TC-580 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL1301 pack

A new Li-ion cell ships at storage voltage — typically 3.7–3.8V per cell, not full charge. When you key up on a fresh-out-of-box pack, the transmit current draw causes an immediate voltage sag that can trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff. The radio drops the transmission and may show a low-battery indicator even though the pack is new. Charge the battery fully before first use — the dock should show solid green before you put the radio into service.

Bar indicator shows one fewer bar than expected after a full charge

HYT radios read battery level from voltage thresholds only — there is no calibration to perform. A new cell's resting voltage after its first charge cycle sits slightly below the peak of a well-conditioned pack, which can push it one threshold bar lower. Run two full charge-discharge cycles and the resting voltage will stabilise. After the second cycle, recheck the bar indicator with the radio idle — it should read correctly at or above 7.8V open circuit.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TC-580 drops to low transmit power halfway through a shift — could the new BL1301 be causing this?

Yes, this is a voltage sag issue under sustained RF output, not a faulty cell. When the radio runs extended transmissions back-to-back, the pack voltage dips enough to trigger the radio's reduced-power threshold. It is more pronounced on a new pack that has not yet completed its first full conditioning cycle. Run two full charge cycles and the cell impedance drops, which tightens the voltage sag under transmit load.

The charger dock LED keeps blinking and never switches to solid — the battery is seated correctly, so what is wrong?

The most common cause is residual contamination on the gold contact strip blocking the BMS handshake. Remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat with firm, even pressure. If the dock still blinks, the pack may have arrived below the dock's acceptance voltage threshold after extended transit storage — connect it to a different HYT-compatible charger that accepts lower input voltage to bring the cell above 7.0V, then return it to the dock.

After the radio sat unused for three weeks with this pack installed, it powered on but the bar indicator read empty and it shut off immediately — is the battery dead?

The pack is not dead — the BMS has most likely tripped into lockout after the cell discharged below its recovery threshold during storage. Remove the battery and leave it out of the radio for two minutes to allow the BMS to reset. Reinsert it, place it on the charger dock, and let it charge uninterrupted until the dock shows solid green. If the dock accepts the pack and begins charging, the cell voltage was simply too low for the radio to operate but still within recovery range.
