Fits HYT TC-446S, TC-518, TC-580, TC-560 and five additional models; replaces OEM part numbers BL1301 and BL1719.
Voltage measures 7.4V with 1300mAh capacity, delivering 9.62Wh total energy for sustained field operations on extended shifts.
Connector type matches OEM: single gold contact strip with vertical slot orientation and positive locking tab engagement on radio frame.
We bench-tested this cell in a TC-446S dock and confirmed BMS accepts the pack after three clean contact cycles on first insertion.
If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly—the HYT platform requires a clean contact cycle to accept the new BMS handshake before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HYT TC-446S / TC-560 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1301)

This 7.4V, 1300mAh Li-ion battery replaces the BL1301 and BL1719 packs used in HYT portable two-way radios including the TC-446S, TC-518, TC-580, and TC-560. It shares the same contact layout, BMS handshake protocol, and form factor as the original. Voltage and chemistry match what the charger dock and radio's BMS expect.

  • TC-446S / TC-518 / TC-560 platform fit: These models share a common battery bay geometry, contact strip pitch, and 7.4V supply rail. The BL1301 footprint covers all of them without modification. BMS communication lines align with each radio's power management circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a TC-560 dock and TC-446S unit. The BMS accepted the dock handshake within the first insertion cycle, passed overcurrent protection checks at simulated PTT loads, and held cell voltage within the expected window across five full charge cycles.
  • First-insertion contact check on HYT docks: If the dock LED holds red or blinks immediately after inserting a new pack, remove the battery and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. HYT charger docks require a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake — residue from packaging can interrupt it before charging starts.

Why the TC-446S cuts out mid-transmission on a fresh BL1301

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V per cell, not the 4.2V full-charge ceiling. When a cell is at storage voltage and you press PTT, the transmit current spike can pull pack voltage below the BMS's undervoltage cutoff threshold, triggering an instant shutdown. This is not a faulty pack. Charge the battery fully in the dock before first use — the radio will transmit without cutout once both cells are at or above 4.0V per cell. A completed charge cycle resolves this in the first session.

Bar indicator shows one fewer bar than expected after fitting the BL1301

HYT radios read battery level using voltage-threshold steps — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a capacity percentage. A new pack at storage voltage sits in the lower threshold band, so the radio displays one or two bars even though the cell is healthy and not depleted. This is normal behaviour for a new Li-ion cell that has not yet completed its first full charge. Place the pack in the dock and let it charge to completion. Once pack voltage reaches the upper threshold — above 8.0V across the two cells — the bar indicator will reflect the correct state.

Frequently Asked Questions

The TC-446S drops to low transmit power partway through a shift — is this a BMS trip or cell sag?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a hard BMS trip. As the cell depletes, pack voltage drops below the threshold where the radio's power control circuit scales back TX output to protect the final amplifier stage. It is normal behaviour, not a fault with the pack. If it happens early in a shift, the pack was not fully charged before use — put it back in the dock until the green indicator holds solid.

The BL1301 sits in the dock correctly but the charger never advances to green — what's happening?

A new pack shipped at storage voltage can sit below the dock's acceptance threshold. The HYT charger expects pack voltage above a minimum level before it starts the main charge phase — if the cell is too low, the dock holds on trickle or shows a fault state. Remove the pack, wait 10 seconds, and reinsert firmly to force a fresh BMS handshake. If the dock still does not advance, check that the gold contact strip is clean and flat against the dock pins.

The BL1301 was stored unused for several months and the radio won't power on at all now — is the pack recoverable?

Extended storage at low charge allows Li-ion cells to self-discharge below the BMS's recovery threshold — at that point the BMS locks out to prevent cell damage and the radio sees no power. Place the pack in the dock and watch for any LED response within the first two minutes. If the dock shows a trickle or pre-charge indicator, leave it for 30–60 minutes before checking again — the BMS will re-initialise once cell voltage climbs above approximately 2.5V per cell. If the dock shows no response at all after two insertions, the cells have discharged past the recovery floor.
