Fits Hytera PD7, PD785, and PD785G radios; replaces OEM battery BL2008, BL2503, or BL3001.
This 7.4V 2000mAh Li-ion pack delivers the voltage and capacity the PD7 platform expects for full transmit power on field shifts.
Connector slides straight into the radio battery slot with a positive-end-first orientation; locking tab seats flush against the radio frame.
We bench-tested this cell on a PD7 dock charger and confirmed BMS acceptance without fault codes; voltage ramp and termination current tracked within spec.
On first insertion into a PD7 charger dock, if a fault LED appears, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip on both the pack and dock with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Hytera platform requires a clean contact cycle before the BMS handshake completes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera PD785 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL2008 / BL2503 / BL3001)

This 7.4V 2000mAh Li-ion pack replaces the BL2008, BL2503, and BL3001 batteries in the Hytera PD7, PD785, and PD785G digital portable radios. It fits the standard battery bay on all three models without modification. Capacity figures come from the product data: 2000mAh / 14.8Wh.

  • PD7 / PD785 / PD785G platform fit: All three models share the same battery bay dimensions, contact layout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full lineup because the voltage rail and connector spec are identical across the PD7 series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and PTT transmit loads on the PD785 platform. The BMS handled the transmit current spike without tripping, and the dock accepted the handshake cleanly on first insertion.
  • First insertion on the Hytera dock: If the dock shows a fault LED on the first seating, remove the pack and wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth before reseating. The PD7 series dock requires a clean contact surface to complete the BMS handshake and begin the charge cycle.

Why the PD785 drops to reduced TX power mid-shift on a new battery

New Li-ion cells ship at storage voltage — typically 3.6–3.7V per cell — not at a full 4.2V charge. Under sustained RF output, the radio's power amplifier draws peak current that a partially charged cell struggles to supply without voltage sag. When the pack voltage dips below the radio's TX threshold, the PD785 automatically steps down transmit power to protect the circuit. A full charge cycle before the first shift eliminates this behaviour entirely.

Bar indicator shows one fewer bar than expected after inserting a new BL2008

The PD7 series uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar maps to a voltage band, not a capacity percentage. A new pack at storage voltage reads one band lower than a fully charged cell at 8.4V. This is not a fault with the pack. Seat the battery in the dock and run a complete charge cycle; once the pack reaches 8.4V, the indicator will show the correct full-charge bar count.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PD785 cuts out completely when I press PTT on a brand-new battery — what's happening?

The transmit current spike from pressing PTT can trip the BMS on a cell that shipped at storage voltage. The BMS reads the sudden load as an overcurrent event and shuts the pack down to protect the cells. Seat the battery in the dock and complete a full charge cycle first. Once the pack reaches 8.4V, the BMS resets and the PTT spike stays within the acceptable current window.

The Hytera dock flashes a fault LED and never starts charging — the battery is brand new.

This almost always comes down to the contact strip, not the cell. The PD7 series dock needs a clean electrical connection to complete the BMS handshake before it will accept the pack. Remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry lint-free cloth, and reseat it firmly. If the fault LED clears, the dock will begin charging normally within a few seconds.

This battery sat unused for several months and now the radio won't power on at all.

Extended storage allows the cell voltage to drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically under 2.5V per cell. At that point, the BMS locks out to prevent damage and the radio sees no power. Place the pack in the Hytera dock; most docks apply a low-current pre-charge pulse to recover cells in this state. If the dock shows no response after 30 minutes, check that the dock itself is getting mains power and that the contact strip is clean before concluding the pack is unrecoverable.
