Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IDATA MC70 / MC90m Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (R1620040062)
This is a 3.8V, 5000mAh (19Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the IDATA MC70, MC90m, MC95V, MC95W, and compatible models. It fits rugged handheld devices used in field data collection, inventory management, and survey operations. The OEM part number is R1620040062.
- MC70 / MC90m / MC95 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions (71.90 × 51.90 × 11.60 mm), 3.8V supply rail, and BMS handshake protocol — one pack covers the full variant range without connector or firmware conflicts.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on the MC70, monitoring BMS response during barcode scan bursts and Wi-Fi transmission events. The protection circuit held stable across load spikes without tripping cutoff.
- First-use calibration on the MC70: After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the MC70's system menu before field deployment. The device maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings in the first logging session — even when the pack is at full charge.
BMS cutoff when the MC70 initialises a barcode scan or wireless module
When the MC70 powers up a scan engine or activates its wireless radio, it draws a brief current spike that can exceed the BMS trip threshold on a degraded or deeply discharged cell. A healthy Li-Polymer pack at full charge absorbs this spike without interruption. If the device cuts out at exactly the moment a peripheral initialises, the issue is the old pack's internal resistance — not the device itself. Fitting a replacement pack with lower internal resistance eliminates the trip at the source.
MC70 showing unstable battery percentage after pack swap
After swapping in a new pack, the MC70's fuel gauge recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage curve against the new cell's characteristics. Until one full discharge and recharge cycle completes, the displayed percentage can jump or read incorrectly — this is not a faulty battery. Run the device from a full charge down to the auto-shutdown threshold, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle, the percentage readout stabilises to within a few points of actual capacity.

Frequently Asked Questions
My MC70 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I start a USB data sync to the PC — why?
USB data transfer pulls simultaneous load from the processor, display, and USB controller at the same time. On an aged pack, this combined draw causes a voltage sag that trips the BMS low-voltage cutoff even though the battery showed adequate charge at idle. A new pack with lower internal resistance handles the combined draw without the sag. Charge the replacement pack fully before attempting the sync — target 4.35V at the cell before connecting the cable.
The MC70 sat unused in a carry case for several months and now won't charge at all — is the battery dead?
Extended storage below approximately 3.0V per cell puts the BMS into a deep-discharge lockout state to prevent thermal runaway. The device will not respond to a standard charger from this state. Connect the MC70 to the OEM cradle charger and leave it for 30–40 minutes without interruption — the BMS requires a trickle pre-charge phase to recover the cell voltage back above the recovery threshold before switching to normal charge mode. If the charge indicator activates after that window, the pack is recovering normally.
Readings on my MC70 reset or the screen briefly blanks during a continuous logging session — what causes this?
This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor or Wi-Fi polling load. When the device runs a prolonged logging task, current draw is constant rather than intermittent, and an aged cell cannot maintain voltage above the BMS hold threshold throughout the session. The brief blank or reset is the processor restarting after a sub-threshold dropout — not a software fault. Replacing the pack restores the sustained voltage floor; verify the replacement holds above 3.6V under load by checking the battery diagnostics screen during an active scan session.
