Fits Intermec CK1 and CN1 handheld scanners, replacing OEM part number 73659.
3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion cell delivers 6.66Wh — sufficient for full-shift barcode capture and wireless data transmission without mid-route swaps.
Connects via proprietary Intermec dock contact pins; slides into battery slot with locking tab facing the scanner body.
We bench-tested this cell on a CK1 dock cradle; BMS accepted the handshake on first insert with stable charge acceptance and no fault codes.
On first shift after installation, place the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before high-frequency scan bursts — the trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum and can trip BMS cutoff on rapid consecutive scans.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Intermec CK1 / CN1 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (73659)

This 3.7V 1800mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Intermec CK1 and CN1 mobile computers. These rugged handheld barcode scanners are built for inventory management, asset tracking, and warehouse data collection. This pack matches the OEM voltage, form factor, and BMS handshake requirements for both models.

  • CK1 and CN1 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V power rail, and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol is identical across the two, so one pack covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack on a CK1 unit and monitored BMS behaviour through scan trigger bursts and active wireless polling. The cell held voltage above the BMS low-cutoff threshold consistently through high-frequency scan cycles.
  • First-shift preparation: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and run a full charge cycle before the first shift. Scan trigger inrush current is highest when the cell sits near minimum state of charge — a fully charged cell prevents false BMS trips when the laser or imager fires on the first pick-and-pack round.

Cradle showing a charging error on a new pack

Charging errors on a new pack are almost always contact resistance at the dock, not a fault in the battery itself. Oxidation or debris on the cradle contacts increases resistance enough that the dock misreads the pack's charge state and throws an error. Wipe the gold contacts on both the battery and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the pack firmly. If the error clears, the contact surface was the issue — not the cell.

Scanner losing wireless connection during rapid scan bursts

The CK1 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the imager during fast scan sequences. When the cell voltage sags under that combined inrush, the radio module drops out before the BMS cuts off — the scanner appears to freeze or disconnect mid-burst. This is more pronounced when the pack is below 50% state of charge. Keep the pack above 3.6V under load to maintain stable radio output during high-frequency scanning.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CK1 won't read barcodes after I swapped in the new battery — laser fires but no scan registers

A newly installed cell sitting at partial charge delivers enough power to fire the laser or imager but not enough to complete the decode and transmit cycle. The imager and processor together need a stable voltage above the BMS minimum to process and confirm a read. Seat the scanner in the cradle and charge fully before the first shift. Once the cell hits 4.1–4.2V, the decode circuit gets the headroom it needs and scanning resumes normally.

The scanner runs warm after an extended shift — is something wrong with the battery?

Warmth after a long shift is normal for this form factor. The CK1 housing is compact, and sustained scan-plus-wireless draw from a 1800mAh cell generates heat that has limited surface area to dissipate. The pack is within spec if it stays below 45°C to the touch. If it becomes hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold, stop use, let it cool, and check whether the cradle is completing a full charge cycle — a cell that never fully charges works harder each shift and runs hotter.

Scanner endurance dropped noticeably compared to the old battery — each shift is shorter now

Shift endurance is driven by scan burst frequency, wireless polling interval, and screen brightness combined — not cell capacity alone. If the wireless polling rate was recently increased or the device is now scanning faster sequences, draw per hour goes up even with a fresh 1800mAh cell. Check the wireless beacon interval in the device settings and reduce the backlight timeout. If endurance is still short after a full charge cycle, verify the cradle contacts are clean so the pack is actually reaching full charge before each shift.
